The Jam Lasin-directed music video captures the band’s renewed chemistry while acknowledging the people and experiences that have shaped its journey. Acclaimed Filipino indie-rock band We Are Imaginary is celebrating nearly two decades of making music with a brand-new visual tribute. Formed as an underground force in the local independent music scene, the group has spent 18 years carving out a distinct sound defined by driving momentum and post-punk guitar sensibilities.
A Visual Journey of Resilience
Directed by Jam Lasin of Cream Flower, the official music video for “Are We There Yet?” beautifully captures the band in their element. Meanwhile, it stitches together energetic performances and candid moments that honor their 18-year legacy. Furthermore, the visual masterpiece traces the highs and lows of band life while expressing deep appreciation for everyone who helped along the way. As the band shares in a press statement,
Keeping the fire burning is another hard choice, especially in a fickle scene and as a band that doesn’t really follow trends.”
They add,
We won’t be here without our past members and labels, so hopefully the music video sends a message that all we feel is gratitude.”
Rooted in Post-Punk Roots
As one of the earliest compositions written by guitarist Khalid Tanji, the track preserves the driving momentum and post-punk sensibilities of its original demo. Moreover, this track serves as a standout single from their self-titled album released in January 2026. To bring this vision to life, the band teamed up with Lasin once again following their collaboration on “Object of My Affliction”.
Physical Legacies Forever
Beyond the screen, the celebration continues with a vinyl and merchandise launch featuring their first-ever official tote bag. Ultimately, the band views physical formats as a permanent nod to their musical journey, with Ahmad Tanji noting,
We get giddy like schoolchildren having our music in tangible form.”
Looking ahead, the band plans to head back into the studio and hopes to release brand-new music by 2027.
