Muebles Italiano, the country’s premier destination for luxury European furniture, has officially announced an exciting chapter.

By introducing the Dutch design powerhouse Eichholtz to local shores, the brand continues its decades-long commitment to elevating modern interiors. Here’s a look at what this partnership brings, from timeless collections to a freshly reimagined showroom.

From History To Present

To begin with, Eichholtz was founded in 1992 by Theo Eichholtz in the Netherlands.

Over the years, it grew from a modest import venture into an international design icon boasting over 4,000 products. Known for a “total concept” approach, the brand effortlessly blends Baroque, Art Deco, mid-century, and modern eclectic styles. Ultimately, this philosophy aligns perfectly with Muebles Italiano’s dedication to art-forward living.

As Kris Gonzales, Vice President for Communications and Knowledge Management, put it:

When we discovered Eichholtz in Amsterdam last 2024, it wasn’t just an appreciation for their furniture—it was a recognition of a shared philosophy,”

For Kris, they instantly connected with their meticulous eye for design and their fearless approach to curation.

What drew us to bring them to the Philippines is their unique talent for bridging the gap between history and the present. They don’t just follow trends; they anchor them in tradition.

You see this in how they fearlessly combine the gravity of classical statuary with the sharp, modern edge of fine art photography, or how they blend the ornate curves of Baroque motifs with the geometric boldness of Art Deco.”

MET x EICHHOLTZ Collection Debut

In addition to launching the brand, Muebles Italiano is debuting the MET x EICHHOLTZ collection.

This 160-piece collaboration draws from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 5,000-year legacy.

Consequently, ancient cultural heritage is translated into stunning pieces for modern living. Highlights include marble Greek and Roman busts like Hermes, the French-inspired Chair Louis, and the majestic Imperial Chandelier.

The Hermes marble bust from The Met x Eichholtz collection, bringing ancient Greek and Roman heritage into contemporary interior design.

One of the standout pieces in The Met x Eichholtz Collection are intricate reinterpretations of celebrated Roman and Greek busts, a  striking marble depiction of Hermes, the messenger of the gods.

Reinterpreting 18th-century French elegance: The Chair Louis brings timeless European luxury into modern living spaces.

The  Chair Louis draws inspiration from Louis XVI’s Salon des Jeux at Saint-Cloud, finished in antique gold and upholstered in Sentier cream. It is homage to the elegance of 18th-century French design.

Echoing ancient Greek architecture: The Imperial Chandelier commands attention with its majestic brushed brass and smoked glass silhouette.

Meanwhile, the Imperial Chandelier commands attention with brushed brass detailing and smoked glass elements, its silhouette echoing the majesty of a Greek marble column from the Temple of Artemis at Sardis.

Together, these pieces transform classical art into bold contemporary focal points.

Kar Gonzales, Vice President for Marketing, highlights the thought behind the partnership:

Each piece in the MET Collection carries an intellectual foundation, It invites homeowners to live among references to art, architecture, and culture—not in a way that feels literal or themed, but in a way that feels curated and thoughtful.”

He adds,

The MET partnership and its level of cultural association immediately elevates the conversation around furniture.”

The Showroom Experience

Meanwhile, Muebles Italiano’s own story has evolved significantly since 1989.

Muebles Italiano executives and representatives gather to celebrate the official Philippine debut of Eichholtz and the exclusive MET collection.

What started as a modest shop in Cash & Carry has grown into a premier luxury destination across Metro Manila. Today, Kris and Kar Gonzales lead the brand into a new era for discerning young collectors. At the center of this transition is their renovated flagship showroom in Paseo de Magallanes.

The six-storey space was designed to feel like a cohesive home rather than a crowded storage space. As a result, visitors are encouraged to slow down and appreciate the craftsmanship.

Kar shared the vision behind the redesign:

When visitors walk in, we want them to feel grounded. Confident. Inspired—but not overwhelmed,”

As for Kar, luxury should feel immersive, not intimidating.

Kar emphasized that the space is designed to slow you down, to encourage you to look closer at materials, proportions, and craftsmanship.

It should feel like stepping into a thoughtfully designed home where every detail has purpose.

By moving beyond simple visual display, Muebles Italiano invites clients to experience a quieter, deeply tactile form of livable art.

In conclusion, the arrival of Eichholtz at Muebles Italiano represents much more than a catalog expansion. Instead, it marks a thoughtful evolution in how we experience our living spaces. By merging history, classic design, and modern style under one roof, Muebles Italiano provides local homeowners with truly meaningful artisanship.

Whether exploring the historical MET collection or visiting the renovated Magallanes flagship, clients are invited to slow down and embrace furniture as everyday art.
