Volunteerism and corporate partnership advance Indigenous education in observance of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. On August 5, 2026, TRICAP and IBM Impact kicked off a wonderful initiative at the IBM Function Hall in U.P. Ayala Technohub, Quezon City.
Coming Together for Panay Bukidnon Children
In celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day and the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, IBM employee-volunteers alongside the ASEANK Indigenous Business Resource Group gathered to pack school bags filled with learning essentials for Panay Bukidnon Indigenous students living in Barangay Holy Spirit.

Beyond handing out supplies, the goal was to lift up young Indigenous learners while building greater inclusion and cultural appreciation within the corporate community.
Weathering the Storm and Sharing Inspiration
Even with heavy rainfall hitting Metro Manila, the event was a complete success thanks to TRICAP Project Head Bae Elta Laurilla and Barangay Chairperson Estrella Valmocina, who made sure the children and their guardians arrived safely. Everyone enjoyed a warm, welcoming evening filled with friendly conversation, a hearty dinner, and special tokens of appreciation.
Adding extra inspiration to the night, Century Tuna Body Finalist Christoff El Jouni encouraged the kids to take pride in their Indigenous heritage, while IBM’s Lance Lucas delivered an insightful presentation on the value of diversity, equity, and cultural understanding in the workplace.
Hope, Dignity, and Future Support
This bag-packing drive is just the start of an ongoing partnership between TRICAP and IBM dedicated to ensuring no Indigenous child is left behind.

Capturing the spirit of the initiative, TRICAP National President Jennifer Pia Sibug-Las noted:
Every school bag packed today carries more than school supplies—it carries hope, dignity, and the collective commitment of volunteers who believe that every Indigenous child deserves the opportunity to learn, dream, and succeed.”
They commend IBM Impact and the ASEANK Indigenous Business Resource Group for demonstrating that corporate volunteerism can be a powerful force in advancing Indigenous education, inclusion, and cultural appreciation. Reaffirming TRICAP’s mission of “Strengthening Indigenous Peoples’ Voices from Roots to Rights.”
