On visual cues and emotional weight.
You’ve seen his art for sure.
Behind the banger music festival backdrops, commercial and creative illustrations that have bled into massive Pop-Culture scenes.
Highly regarded Filipino illustrator and book creator, Rob Cham is in for a special limited-edition merchandise to mark the 30th anniversary of the Eraserheads’ critically acclaimed fourth studio album “Fruitcake”.
Fresh Drip for the Cult Classic
When Rob Cham took on the challenge of designing a limited-edition t-shirt for the Eraserheads’ Fruitcake, he wasn’t just making merch.
He was reimagining a universe.
Originally released in 1996, Fruitcake stands as the band’s iconic, 22-track English Christmas concept album.
And that takes listeners on a journey through the fictional world of Fruitcake Heights.
To truly do justice to this legendary work, Cham completely immersed himself in the project. He listened to the album on repeat, re-read the original storybook, and binged old music videos just to capture its chaotic, imaginative energy.
I wanted to do my take on the storybook while also keeping it something that people would see and be curious about what the album is about,”
the acclaimed artist explains.
…There are so many crazy characters and visuals and pure imagination in the album and storybook, and I wanted to make people feel as excited as I was when I first learned about the album.”
His goal was simple.
Reiterate a modern visual tribute that makes old fans smile and sparks curiosity in a whole new generation of listeners.
Nostalgia and Rediscovery
As the album rapidly approaches its 30th anniversary, this collaboration serves as the perfect excuse to revisit a masterpiece.
Through this new apparel, Cham hopes to evoke fond memories of classic Filipino Christmases for longtime fans. While simultaneously welcoming newcomers to experience the album’s story from start to finish.
Ultimately, he wants people to discover hidden details they might have missed before.
To wear the shirt as a meaningful, treasured piece of their own collection.
Cop the Drip!
If you are looking to snag a piece of this music and art crossover, you won’t have to wait long.
The exclusive Rob Cham x Fruitcake 30th Anniversary merchandise will officially launch at the Offshore Music Bazaar on June 26, 2026.
The event will be held at Thai Mookata in Makati City, sharing the same date and venue as the highly anticipated Fête de la Musique Indie Stage—making it the ultimate destination for local music and art lovers alike.
