A city shattered by the aftermath of World War II. Dealing with widespread destruction, poverty, and a profound sense of hopelessness.

That was Manila in 1947.

However, amidst that darkness, a spark of inspiration caught hold when Artemio “Temiong” Vergel de Dios envisioned a youth-led movement.

Dedicated to rebuild communities from the ground up.

Fast forward over 75 years later, and that very movement has evolved into JCI Manila. Now recognized as one of Asia’s premier leadership training and civic service organizations.

Today, we continue that powerful legacy by empowering young men to lead with integrity, dedication, and a deep-rooted commitment to building a stronger nation.

A Run with a Real Purpose

If you are looking for a way to stay active while making a genuine difference, JCI Manila has teamed up with the Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) and Hyve Sports PH.

Mark your calendars for May 31, 2026, at the SM Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City, because this isn’t just your average fun run. It’s a vibrant, music-filled movement designed for everyone—from seasoned marathoners to first-timers—highlighting how closely physical fitness and mental well-being are connected.

A Safe Space for a Cause

What makes this event truly special is its cause: every registration directly helps fund the construction of the PMHA Wellness Center. This project will transform an unfinished area into a much-needed, peaceful sanctuary featuring counseling rooms, group therapy spaces, and a healing meditation garden.

The JCI Manila Company with their ambassadors, including TV actor Enzo Pineda.

PMHA leaders Dr. Carolina Uno-Rayco and Arch. Mariano Arce Jr. emphasizes that mental wellness requires these exact types of dedicated spaces where people can relax, reflect, and reconnect.

Strength in Community

Physical health and mental health are closely connected. Through initiatives like this, we want to remind people that while we often focus on physical fitness, mental health is equally important.”

As JCI Manila President Edison Ke and Project Chairman Anton Laborte put it, the goal is to remind everyone that mental health matters and that no one has to face their struggles alone.

With the support of partners like Punto Consultancy, organizers are inviting Filipinos from all walks of life to lace up their sneakers.

Every single step brings the community closer to building a safe haven where hope can flourish.
