Bulan, Sorsogon — resting at the southernmost tip of the province, the very edge of Luzon itself — feels worlds away from the capital’s glittering runways. Yet let me tell you: fashion does not just exist here.
It breathes. It dazzles. It reigns.
The Journey to Luzon’s Farthest Edge
Recently, I had the honor of serving as Chairman of the Board for the search of Bb. San Ramon. Although I have judged pageants across the archipelago, nothing prepared me for the magic of this town.
Furthermore, the local dialect of Visacol—a poetic blend of Visayan and Bicolano—reflects the genuine warmth of its people. Travelers can reach Bulan via a twelve-hour drive from Manila. Alternatively, you can take a one-hour flight to Bicol followed by a scenic two-hour drive. Ultimately, as endless emerald rice fields unfold around you, you realize you have arrived.
A Masterclass in Craftsmanship and Tradition
On the night of August 28, the community gathered at their stunning new auditorium. The atmosphere was electric, expectant, and united. Soon after, nine radiant candidates stepped onto the ramp. They wore living art crafted by the region’s finest emerging designers. Consequently, the event proved to be a masterclass in creative vision.
First, the Flores de Mayo costume round honored local traditions. Gowns bloomed with hand-sculpted fabric flowers and lush silhouettes. In addition, every petal was stitched with deep devotion and faith.
Next, the long gown competition delivered pure elegance. Regal fabrics were lavishly embroidered with thousands of crystals, pearls, and beads. Clearly, this high glamour was not borrowed; it was born right in Sorsogon.
Elegance, Wisdom, and Undeniable Style
Eventually, the competition narrowed down to five finalists. Anticipation filled the air as the women returned in bold crimson ternos. They walked with effortless grace and poise. Moreover, they spoke with remarkable depth, proving that beauty here is matched by wisdom.
When the winners were proclaimed, thunderous applause echoed through the hall. Ultimately, the celebration was for Bulan itself. Although distant from the capital, the town is never behind the times.
In conclusion, distance does not dim style. Bulan proves that fashion is not defined by postal codes or city lights. Instead, it thrives wherever passion burns bright. Bulan, you have my heart—until we meet again.
