Life’s like that.

Nonchalant Millenial Sadboi is here.

If you have been feeling completely burnt out by life’s unexpected curveballs lately, Gab Cabangon has a brand-new release that needs to be on your radar.

Following his previous singles “Pieces” (which explored the acceptance of vulnerability) and “Kama” (which chased peace amid chaotic city noise), this new track serves as a vital next step on the road to emotional recovery.

The “Galitcore” Anthem

Gab Cabangon is leaning heavily into his indie rock roots with his latest track, “Ikot Ulit,” and it serves as the ultimate “paasa” anthem for anyone exhausted by the daily grind. The pop-rock single was born out of intense personal and professional frustrations.

I was getting sudden postponements for work-related projects and pitches, and it was a period wherein I had bar gigs that were cancelling at the last minute. I also felt like I couldn’t trust anybody outside of my family and circle of close friends because I felt like people were going to throw me under the bus at any moment.”

Gab reveals that he had always intended to release “Ikot Ulit” a couple of months after “Kama” but later realized how the timing made so much sense in today’s socio-political landscape.

While Cabangon did not originally write the song as a political statement, he acknowledges how perfectly its themes mirror today’s socio-political climate, where the real-world consequences of broken promises leave everyday people feeling deeply frustrated.

Because he intentionally kept the lyrics general, listeners from all walks of life can easily project their own personal struggles onto the track.

Gritty Indie Pop-Rock Sensibilities

Sonically, the song marks an exciting shift for the Metro Manila-based artist. It seamlessly blends Gab’s signature “nonchalant millennial sadboi” indie sensibilities with a much grittier, high-energy rock aesthetic. Collaborating with producer David Lina, the team packed the track with dirty guitar tones and a driving sense of urgency.

They even added an intense instrumental bridge to the final recording that was completely absent from the original demo, elevating the emotional climax of the song.

Thanks to a dream production team—including mixing and mastering by Shadiel Chan and Jan Fuertez, alongside vocal engineering by John Crupero. The raw, cathartic energy of the track shines through beautifully without losing its musical grace.

A New Chapter in the Journey to Healing

What makes “Ikot Ulit” so special is its pivotal placement within the broader narrative of Gab’s upcoming debut EP.  Gab beautifully summarizes the vision behind the music, noting that in order to truly heal, become whole, and love again, we absolutely have to give ourselves permission to feel, rest, and scream out our frustrations.

“Ikot Ulit” acts as that perfect, safe musical space to just let it all out.

“Ikot Ulit” is officially available for streaming on all major digital music platforms worldwide. Add it to your playlist today and give yourself permission to feel the noise.
