From March 19 to April 27, experience the blockbuster, award-winning musical Wicked at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
“We are thrilled to bring Wicked back to Singapore,” said Chantal Prudhomme, chief executive of Base Entertainment Asia. “Based on the Broadway production, this staging will have audiences captivated by a world where every scene is filled with vibrant colors and breathtaking grandeur, creating an unforgettable visual feast. Wicked will enchant both returning fans, who will rediscover the magic anew, and newcomers who are about to embark on an unforgettable journey into the Emerald City for the first time.”
Wicked tells the story of what happened long before Dorothy dropped in — when two young women meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery, misunderstood and possesses extraordinary talent. The other is bubbly, blonde, ambitious and exceptionally popular. They become rivals, then friends — until the world decides to call one “good” and the other “wicked.” Through powerful music and dazzling performances, the musical explores themes of identity, acceptance and the nature of good versus evil.
The stellar Australian cast is led by Courtney Monsma as Glinda, the bubbly girl who becomes Glinda the Good, and Sheridan Adams as Elphaba, the girl born with emerald-green skin who grows up to become the Wicked Witch of the West. Jennifer Vuletic plays Madame Morrible, Simon Burke is the Wizard, Liam Head is Fiyero, Paul Hanlon is Dr. Dillamond, Chelsea Dean is Nessarose, Kurtis Papadinis is Boq and Zoe Coppinger is the Elphaba standby.
The talented Wicked ensemble and swings include Brittany Carter, Olivia Castagna, Matt Cranleigh, Madison Green, Morag Hamilton, Matt Holly, Todd Jacobsson, Elisha Zion Lee, Chloe Malek, Emily Monsma, Thomas Norman, Jayden Prelc, Declan Stewart Ryan, Amelia Sanzo, Antony Sheppard, Ryan Smith, Ksenia Teliatnikova, Lucas Van Rhijn, Regan Walker, Paul Watson, Mietta White, Seb Witt, Jun Woodfield and Kate Yaxley.
Based on the 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked has sold six million copies — 5.5 million of which were sold after the musical debuted in 2003. Buoyed by the musical’s success, the novel has remained on bestseller lists for nearly two decades. In 2024, it returned to the No. 1 spot on The New York Times Best Sellers list.
With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the production features musical staging by Wayne Cilento and original direction by Joe Mantello. It is produced in Australia by John Frost for Crossroads Live Australia, Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, the Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone, and presented in Singapore by Base Entertainment Asia under the direction of CEO Chantal Prudhomme.
