You’ve seen this fur gal everywhere with her Philippine Airline kit.

After months of searching for an airfare grant, Felicia the rescue dog is finally coming home.  Thanks to a dedicated community working together, one special pup got a whole new start.

Every Doggo Deserves A Fresh Start

Meet Felicia, a sweet island doggo rescued by the Aklan Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Center just days before she was scheduled for euthanasia.

Meet Felicia! The Philippine rescue dog who finally found her furever home in US!

This former Boracay stray got a second chance at life when a compassionate adopter in Massachusetts, USA decided to welcome her home. While staying at the PAWS shelter, this brave pup completed her medical treatments, regained her strength, and got all her travel papers in order.

Flight Buddy Search Last January

However, getting this good girl across the globe required a bit of teamwork. Anna Cabrera posted on facebook just last January:

FELICIA NEEDS A RIDE

Her adopter cannot afford to pay for the roundtrip ticket of a flight volunteer to the US but can only pay for the USD 500 add-on fee that will be charged for a dog flying with someone.

PAWS is happy to process the documents, titer tests etc and the adopter will cover these as well but cannot afford to pay for RT airfare of the person so we were hoping for Felicia to “hitch” with someone with plans to book a flight and fly back to JFK from Manila in May or June 2026.

Off to Her Furever Home

Fortunately, word spread quickly online for this precious fur-baby.

To help Felicia reach her new home, PAWS Executive Director Atty. Anna Cabrera posted a personal appeal on Facebook asking who could help give her a ride to the United States. Migi of Bow House saw the appeal and featured Felicia on Bow House, where Philippine Airlines responded and generously volunteered to fly her home,”

PAWS shared in a post.

Ultimately, after months of waiting and healing, Felicia made it safely to her adoptive mom in the US!

If you’re ever thinking about adding a fur-baby to your life, consider supporting local rescue groups, adopting, and spaying your pets.

Following Felicia’s journey from a Boracay stray to a beloved family member has been truly heartwarming. Stories like hers are a great reminder of why adopting native Aspin doggos is so rewarding—they are smart, loyal, resilient, and healthy companions.
