Given how fast new energy vehicles are evolving, modern automotive technology can easily feel impersonal and distant. In fact, many newer models come across as cold and robotic. This is because a lot of brands let AI completely run their design process.
While this approach is great for precision, it often loses that cozy, human touch.
However, GAC took a totally different approach with the AION UT.
The vehicle is built on a “Man Maximum, Machine Minimum” philosophy. Essentially, the engineering team shrunk down the bulky mechanical parts to give you as much room and comfort as possible. As a result, it gives off an awesome “big car energy” inside. You get all the extra cabin space and freedom you want, yet the actual car is no bigger or harder to park.
Designed for Comfort and Space
Consequently, the new GAC AION UT feels less like a sterile gadget and more like a comfortable, everyday space. This human-centric feel is largely thanks to the guidance of Masato Katsumata, GAC International’s CTO and a former Toyota engineering expert.

Notably, he approached the project with a personal, protective mindset. He even called the car a project close to his heart, like a “daughter.” Because of this, the team focused heavily on human comfort over aggressive tech trends.

By applying their space-saving design philosophy, they built a compact hatchback with a class-leading 2,750mm wheelbase. Consequently, it can easily fit tall passengers. It also offers the kind of legroom and storage flexibility you would usually expect from an SUV. Furthermore, the inside focus is on a clean, calming environment with plenty of smart storage to keep daily clutter out of sight.
Practical Features for Daily Driving
When it comes to driving around the Philippines, the car is packed with practical safety and efficiency features.
For instance, it uses a highly durable body structure along with GAC’s “Magazine Battery” technology. This specialized battery is built to be water-resistant and highly stable in hot weather. In addition, the car includes standard driver assists like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, and a 360-degree camera to help handle tight city streets.

To ensure smooth, efficient trips, the cabin is well-insulated against road noise. Moreover, the car rides on specialized low-resistance tires. These tires help stretch its driving range to around 400 to 500 kilometers on a full charge. Meanwhile, fast-charging can take the battery from 30% to 80% in about 24 minutes.
Options and Ownership
In terms of styling, the AION UT comes in a handful of distinct colors. These choices include Champs-Elysees Beige, Emerald Green, Rococo White, and Seine Silver. Currently, the Elite variant is available for reservation at GAC’s 30 dealerships nationwide. It starts at PHP 998,000, with introductory discounts running through June 30, 2026.
Furthermore, GAC develops its vehicles using manufacturing insights from decades of partnership with major global brands. Therefore, they back their EVs with a strong 8-year or 160,000 km warranty. This coverage extends up to 200,000 km for the core electric components. Along with that, buyers receive two years of free roadside assistance for extra peace of mind.
In conclusion, the GAC AION UT strips away the sterile, tech-heavy feel of typical modern EVs. Instead, it replaces it with a practical, human-first design that prioritizes daily comfort.
Its spacious SUV-like interior, local safety engineering, and strong warranty make it a highly practical mobility solution for the unique demands of Filipino drivers.
