For Rainy Day Vibes

Pick up the phone, because Carousel Casualties is back!

The Filipino indie pop band just dropped their latest single, “nananabik,” and it is the perfect somber, dream-pop anthem for the rainy weather.

A somber, rain-ready anthem for your cue to pick up the phone (or not).

While they are already well-known for their signature jangly guitars and deeply introspective storytelling, this new track takes things a step further. It captures that painfully relatable late-night struggle of wanting to call someone, even when you know you shouldn’t.

Consequently, the melodies fizzle and gleam like streetlights, delivering a familiar yet sonically adventurous experience.

Late-Night Overthinking as a Movie

According to lead vocalist and songwriter Emmie Villegas, the track explores a very specific narrative loop. He pictures someone pacing around their apartment craving answers, trying to sleep, and miserably failing.

Meanwhile, the internal debate just keeps spinning with absolutely no resolution. Interestingly, the band loves drawing inspiration from TV shows and films.

Derived from this, they designed “nananabik” to feel just like an open-ended movie where the listener gets to decide how it ends.
