Conceived by a rich musical lineage, SHANNi (Shanty Silonga) is rapidly solidifying her rise in the music scene.

Although she is the daughter of Allan Silonga and the younger sister of art-pop icon Blaster Silonga, the Filipino singer-songwriter heavily commands her own artistic identity separate from her family’s shadow.

Performing alongside her siblings Dave and Leyna, she crafts an eclectic alternative pop sound. This signature style gracefully spans ’70s-inspired Manila Sound, nostalgic torch ballads, bedroom pop, and Japanese city pop. Furthermore, her songwriting is deeply rooted in vulnerability, empathy, and intimate storytelling.

This raw approach previously catapulted her breakout track, “Sikretong Tayo Lang May Alam,” to millions of streams and a Wish Music Award nomination. Following the success of her 2023 Sony Music Entertainment debut “sa panaginip” and notable retro-pop releases like “Kdrama,” SHANNi continues her upward trajectory with her new single, “Teleserye.”

A New Chapter of Honest Storytelling

For SHANNi, this single represents a conscious pivot toward unfiltered transparency in her songwriting. Specifically, she explains that the track marks a significant evolution in how she approaches her craft:

I realized I wanted to become more fearless when it comes to storytelling and expressing vulnerability in my music. With this release, I became more intentional about writing from a place that’s completely honest and personal instead of trying to filter my emotions.”

Rather than suppressing the pain of a real-life trial, SHANNi channeled her experiences directly into her art. Consequently, she utilized the songwriting process as an organic vehicle for personal healing and self-expression.

A lot of the inspiration behind Teleserye came from real emotions and experiences that genuinely affected me emotionally,”

shares the artist.

Ultimately, writing served as SHANNi’s primary outlet for processing heavy emotions before they could consume her. Rather than reacting impulsively, she channeled that raw energy into her music to create something beautiful, creative, and tangible.

The Sonic Architecture: Sweetness Over Chaos

Musically, “Teleserye” reveals a somber yet remarkably inviting pop-rock soundscape. The track effortlessly marries infectious, addictive hooks with heavy, introspective lyrical themes. Moreover, the deliberate contrast between the song’s upbeat musical textures and its weighty subject matter perfectly mirrors the complicated strains of real-life human emotion.

This specific sonic juxtaposition makes the track intensely relatable, especially to a generation of young listeners currently navigating their own rough patches.

SHANNi emphasizes that this intentional design choice captures the exact real-world experience of people who are hurting deeply on the inside while doing everything in their power to keep things smiling on the surface.

When creating music, I usually start by thinking about how I want listeners to feel emotionally before they even fully process or dissect the lyrics,”

the singer-songwriter admits.

Therefore, the artist aims to hook listeners with addictive melodies that slowly reveal vulnerable, heartbreaking stories underneath the polished production. She believes this contrast heightens the emotional impact, allowing the audience to experience both sides of the coin.

A Deeply Collaborative Triumph

The track was written and co-produced by SHANNi alongside her trusted circle of longtime creative collaborators: Max Cinco, Ezekiel Diaz, Dave Silonga, and Raine Roque. By fostering a safe, tight-knit studio environment, the team successfully captured a sonically engaging sound.

Within this space, vulnerability and artistic experimentation were encouraged to coexist throughout the production timeline.

As a result, the final product strikes a masterful balance. It retains an undeniable mainstream crossover appeal while fiercely protecting SHANNi’s distinct creative integrity and independent spirit.

By trading heavily filtered pop tropes for absolute, unvarnished honesty, “Teleserye” positions SHANNi not just as a chart-topping pop contender, but as an empathetic, vital voice for her generation.

“Teleserye” is available for streaming starting today on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and all digital streaming platforms globally.
