Our favorite Chinese restaurant classic, now made Simpol so you can try to cook this delicious Sweet and Sour Pork recipe at home. You will surely enjoy its sweet and tangy flavor! The combination of crispy pork with a rich pineapple-infused sauce and colorful vegetables makes it a festive dish for both everyday meals and special occasions.

Serves 4 to 5.

Ingredients

Set A: For the Pork

  • 1/2 kilogram pork, chopped into bite-size pieces

  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

  • 4 tablespoons water

  • 1 pack Maggi Magic Sarap

  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 cup cornstarch

  • Oil, for deep frying

Set B: For the Sauce

  • 1/2 cup white sugar

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • 1/4 cup vinegar

  • 4 tablespoons banana catsup

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • Juice from 1 small can pineapple chunks

Set C: For the Vegetables

  • 1 piece white onion, diced

  • 1/2 piece carrot, cut into florets

  • 1/2 piece green bell pepper, chopped

  • 1/2 piece red bell pepper, chopped

  • 1 small can pineapple chunks (227 grams)

Instructions

  1. Marinate and Prepare the Pork (Set A)
    In a bowl, combine the pork with baking soda and water. Mix until the liquid is absorbed. Then add garlic, black pepper, and Maggi Magic Sarap. Mix well. Finally, add cornstarch and coat the pork evenly. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Fry the Pork
    Heat oil in a pan. Deep-fry the pork pieces until golden and crispy. For extra crunch, double-fry them. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Prepare the Sauce (Set B)
    In a small bowl, mix sugar, cornstarch, vinegar, banana catsup, soy sauce, and pineapple juice. Stir well.
  4. Cook the Vegetables (Set C)
    In a separate pan, sauté onion and carrots for 2–3 minutes. Add bell peppers and pineapple chunks. Stir-fry until just tender.
  5. Combine and Serve
    Pour the sauce mixture into the pan with vegetables. Let it simmer until thickened. Add the fried pork and toss until well coated. Now your Sweet and Sour Pork is done. Serve hot.
