In the fast-paced arena of Southeast Asian commerce, consistency is the ultimate currency. While market trends shift and economic landscapes evolve, certain pillars remain immovable.
For the third consecutive year, SM Investments and its banking arms lead the Philippine contingent on the prestigious Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list.
The SM Group has once again proven its formidable presence on the regional stage. For the third year in a row, SM Investments Corporation, the conglomerate’s parent company, alongside its banking subsidiaries, BDO Unibank, Inc. and China Banking Corporation, secured their places on Fortune magazine’s prestigious Southeast Asia 500 list.
Standing Tall Among Regional Giants
Within the local landscape, SM Investments emerged as a frontrunner. Ranking second among the 42 Philippine companies that made the cut. This achievement translates to an impressive 28th place on the broader regional leaderboard.
Following closely behind, BDO Unibank claimed the fifth spot nationally and the 52nd position regionally. Meanwhile, China Bank maintained a strong showing, locking in the 161st spot on the comprehensive Southeast Asian list.
A Triumph of Shared Value
Reflecting on the achievement, SM Investments President and Chief Executive Officer Frederic C. DyBuncio expressed deep gratitude for the sustained recognition.
We are honored to be part of this year’s Fortune Southeast Asia 500 for the third time,” DyBuncio said.
This recognition reflects the dedication of our people, the trust of our customers, and the valuable contributions of our partners and tenants. It also underscores the important role that businesses play in advancing inclusive growth and strengthening Southeast Asia’s economic development and trade landscape.” he added.
Benchmarking Corporate Excellence
The Fortune Southeast Asia 500 serves as a definitive annual ranking, evaluating the region’s largest enterprises based on their revenues from the preceding fiscal year. Beyond mere sales figures, the index offers a deeper look into corporate health by tracking profits, asset sizes, and total workforce.
Ever since Fortune launched the Southeast Asian iteration in 2024, SM Investments has been a permanent fixture. The regional list shares a pedigree with the media brand’s other flagship corporate trackers, such as the Fortune Global 500, the Fortune 500, and the Fortune Europe 500.
Driving the Nation Forward
Ultimately, the enduring presence of SM Investments and its financial arms on this list underscores the conglomerate’s massive scale. Also SM Investment’s inherent resilience, and vital role in fueling economic expansion both at home and across the ASEAN region.
By continuously driving innovation and growth across its core sectors of retail, banking, and real estate, the SM Group continues its mission to create shared value for its consumers, local communities, and shareholders. All of these while championing sustainable and inclusive development.
