Stage lights are on for Filipino playwrights.

Original stories have always shaped communities, reflected generations, and inspired change. Following the success of Cine Panalo, Puregold is taking a giant leap into live theater. Together with Wishbone Collective, Inc., they are launching Teatro Panalo. This brand-new festival is designed to discover, develop, and produce fresh stage works. Ultimately, it aims to celebrate authentic local creative voices and champion Filipino identity.

Nurturing Playwrights from Script to Stage

To begin with, Teatro Panalo is much more than a standard competition.

Instead, it serves as a supportive incubation program for writers. Through this initiative, 12 original one-act works will be brought to full production. This includes eight straight plays and four musicals. Moreover, each selected playwright will receive ₱100,000 in financial compensation.

Writers will also gain professional dramaturgical guidance and production resources. Furthermore, they will receive direct feedback from live audiences. As an added bonus, two top works will earn full-length grants to expand toward commercial production.

Championing Authentic Local Voices

Above all, the festival seeks fresh and distinctive perspectives. Festival Director Vincent de Jesus highlighted this goal, stating,

We’re looking for authentic voices, fresh perspectives, and stories that deserve to be seen on the stage,”

de Jesus said. At the same time, Puregold is equally excited to foster local creativity on stage.

Through Teatro Panalo, we hope to be present in another meaningful way by creating spaces where people can come together, exchange new ideas, and see Filipino artistry come to life on stage,”

said Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, Senior Marketing Manager of Puregold.

Guidelines, Timelines, and How to Apply

So, who can join? Submissions are open to amateur and professional Filipino writers aged 18 and above.

Additionally, entries can be written in English or Filipino. Plays must be original one-act works running between 35 and 40 minutes. However, adaptations, translations, and AI-generated works are strictly ineligible. Applicants must submit a completed script, synopsis, logline, development vision, and supporting documents.

Meanwhile, musical entries must also include demo recordings. The submission deadline is September 11, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Next, a shortlist will be announced on October 6. Pitch presentations will follow from October 14 to 16, before the final lineup is revealed on October 16. Finally, selected writers will enter incubation ahead of the festival in February and March 2027.

In conclusion, Teatro Panalo offers a wonderful opportunity to turn your script into reality.  With Puregold Teatro Panalo, the next great Filipino play may be waiting behind an unopened script.

Therefore, do not miss your chance to share your voice. Be sure to submit your application before the September 11 deadline through the official Puregold Teatro Panalo Submission Form.
