Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu — The Cebu Mangoes Festival 2025 officially enters full swing today, May 22, at The Mactan Newtown. The celebration started last May 16, and today marks the start of the most exciting events.
The Mactan Newtown, a seaside township by Megaworld, hosts this year’s festival. The venue blends culture, community, and Cebuano flavor in one scenic space. It’s the perfect home for a festival that honors the province’s most iconic fruit.
Mangoes aren’t just a crop here — they’re part of Cebu’s story. They appear in backyard trees, merienda tables, pasalubong bags, and family recipes. They support farmers and feed families. This festival celebrates all of it.

What’s Happening Starting May 22
May 22 – Street Parade & Giant Mango Halo-Halo
Colorful floats, dancers, and music fill the streets. At the end of the parade, organizers will unveil a 200-kilogram mango halo-halo — sweet, creamy, and big enough to share with a crowd.
May 23–24 – Mango Culinary Showdown
Student chefs compete to create the most creative mango dishes. From desserts to savory twists, mango takes center stage. On May 24, Chef Tatung will host a live cooking demo. Expect big flavors and stories from the heart.
May 24 – Cebu Mangoes Festival Queen Pageant
Contestants will wear gowns inspired by mangoes and Cebuano culture. The winner will represent the spirit and heritage of the festival.
May 25 – Mango Tree Planting & Eating Contest
Guests will plant mango saplings to promote sustainability. Afterward, the popular mango eating contest begins — messy, fun, and full of laughter.
May 31 – The Great Mango Harvest
One hundred participants will pick fresh mangoes straight from the tree. Each will receive a harvesting kit and join farmers in a guided experience.
June 1 – Pets in Mango Costumes
Cebu’s cutest pets will walk the stage in mango-themed costumes. Expect plenty of charm and prizes for creativity.
Why It Matters
Cebu mangoes are known around the world for their sweetness. But they’re more than just delicious. They tell the story of the land, the farmers, and the families that grow them.
This festival gives thanks — through food, fun, and Filipino pride.
