Heliora is not merely an exhibit to be observed. It is an open invitation to reflect on the human capacity for metamorphosis. Every living thing leaning into the morning light remains forever capable of starting all over again.

The collection serves as a visual meditation on change, patience, and renewal.

The Anatomy of Renewal

Transformation unfolds in the unspoken space where darkness yields to purpose. Like the first rays of sunlight piercing the horizon or the slow, miraculous journey of a butterfly breaking free from its cocoon.

This gentle yet profound message forms the beating heart of Heliora, a new art exhibition that bridges the quiet geometry of human resilience with the instinctual rituals of the natural world.

Anchored by three timeless emblems—the sun, flowers in their perpetual reach toward the light, and butterflies emerging from season-long metamorphoses—the collection serves as a visual meditation on change, patience, and renewal.

Each canvas functions less like a static portrait and more like a mirror, inviting viewers to trace their own seasons of growth, stillness, and quiet courage through vibrant strokes and luminous textures.

A Celebratory Launch

In partnership with Solaire Resort Quezon City, seasoned visual artist and event curator Ycoy Sitchon unveiled Heliora on August 7, through an exclusive artist reception. The evening commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a celebratory toast marking the exhibit’s official opening.

Joining the occasion was Damian Quayle, Chief Operating Officer of Solaire Resort Quezon City, who shared:

This exhibition is also a testament to our commitment to supporting Filipino artists and providing a platform where creativity can be explored and be celebrated, and we hope each of you finds inspiration in the stories and artistry behind your pieces.”

Joaquin Teotico, owner and president of Galerie Joaquin Group, also graced the launch with his presence.

At Galerie Joaquin, we were honored to have hosted her first one-man exhibition at our PGC gallery barely three years ago. But ever since that time, she has had seven solo shows,” Teotico noted.

Ycoy has come a very long way in a short time in the field of art.”

Reflections on Becoming

Defined by flourishing florals, vibrant butterflies, and richly layered textures, Heliora showcases a compelling collection of paintings and large-scale installations that invite guests into Sitchon’s dynamic artistic world.

Speaking on the core inspiration behind the collection, Sitchon reflected:

Each painting is an invitation to reflect on our own seasons of becoming. There are moments when we are asked to move and to transform, and moments when all we can do is trust that the light will return.”

As you move through the collection, I hope you’ll see more than flowers. I hope you’ll find stories that echo your own, and leave with a reminder that like flowers reaching for the sun and butterflies taking flight for the very first time, we are always capable of beginning again.”

Ultimately, beyond its floral landscapes and fluttering silhouettes lies a deeper, universal truth. No matter how long the shadow or how uncertain the shift, light inevitably finds a way forward within.
