This August 2026, the Tribal Communities Association of the Philippines (TRICAP) is going all out to celebrate the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples and National Indigenous Peoples Day.
As the country’s pioneer national Indigenous organization since 1986, they’ve lined up a whole month of meaningful events to honor the rich culture, traditions, and invaluable contributions of our Indigenous communities while pushing for inclusive development.
Purposeful Partnership For The Indigenous Communities
To make this month truly special, TRICAP has teamed up with a fantastic mix of government agencies, schools, corporate partners, and volunteer groups.
With support from organizations like IBM Impact, the Ayala Foundation, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), De La Salle Santiago Zobel School, the United Nations Association of the Philippines (UNAP), Golden Hearts Missionary, and Goodera, they are rolling out a variety of community-driven activities.
The lineup includes packing and handing out school supplies for Indigenous students, hosting educational forums, and organizing outreach programs that champion volunteerism and education.
Project KAPWA and Humanitarian Relief
A major highlight of the month is PROJECT KAPWA, a heartfelt humanitarian relief operation aimed at helping earthquake-affected Indigenous families in Malapatan, Sarangani. Scheduled for August 19, 2026, this specific initiative is brought to life with the backing of Hotel Sogo, Apo View Hotel, Goodera, and the NCIP, alongside the support of local leaders IPS HEAD Datu Jaime Lantingan and Fulung Titus Mandalo. It’s a powerful reminder of the real-world impact that shared commitment and humanitarian service can bring to vulnerable communities.
A Call to Collectivize And Celebrate
TRICAP is warmly inviting Indigenous Peoples living in Metro Manila and nearby provinces to join in the festivities and celebrate their shared resilience, identity, and unity. Capturing the deeper meaning behind these events, Bo-i Limpayen Jennifer Pia Sibug-Las, National President of TRICAP, shared:

It is a reaffirmation of our collective responsibility to uphold the dignity, rights, and aspirations of Indigenous Peoples. Through strong partnerships and volunteerism, we continue to strengthen Indigenous voices from roots to rights.”
