March is a special month.
It is a month of coming out. The sun emerges in full force, signaling the start of summer in this part of the world. Days stretch longer, offering more time for leisure. Flowers bloom, painting the landscape with vibrant colors. Children and adults alike eagerly step outside, embracing companionship and love.
Against this backdrop, my own moment of coming out happened. Yes, March is my birth month. It is when I was born a woman, a reminder of the many ways my humanity is celebrated during Women’s Month — alongside everything bright, joyful, and meaningful.
But it was not always this colorful for women. Many summers ago, my kind could not even step out freely. We were confined to our homes as housewives, barred from taking on work in offices and other public spaces. We were expected to remain silent, our voices unheard. We were always second — never equal to men.
It took a long, dark, and arduous journey for women to step into the sunlight and be celebrated every March.
March is also a month of becoming. Women’s fight for liberation is a testament to a world shaped by struggle and transformation. Through these struggles, we ourselves change. Our mindsets shift — we reframe our perspectives and redefine our roles. Women have now claimed invaluable spaces in society and continue to thrive despite the challenges.
We have become catalysts for change. The global conversations on diversity, inclusion, and collaboration are direct outcomes of women’s growing presence in workplaces, leadership roles, and every facet of life. Compassion and care in professional fields, relentless service to the marginalized, and deep, unconditional love for family and community — these qualities flourish because women have stepped into their rightful place in the world. Women embody these traits naturally and continue to redefine their roles with strength and purpose.
