Times are becoming dystopic as it is, and XPENG is moving fast. The company is actively bridging the gap between digital software and physical machines. As a result, it is evolving from an electric carmaker into a global physical AI powerhouse. XPENG is best known for its sleek electric cars, but the company is shifting gears into physical AI.

Instead of keeping artificial intelligence stuck on our screens, they are building machines to navigate the actual world.

From Blueprint to the Factory Floor

XPENG just launched its brand-new humanoid robot assembly line in Guangzhou, China.


XPENG steps beyond electric vehicles to bring embodied AI to life.

To prove the point, the first next-gen “XPENG IRON” walked off the floor entirely on its own. Instead of building these units by hand, the team adapted its electric vehicle assembly systems. Consequently, more than 80% of the core manufacturing process is now fully automated.

Brains, Dexterity, and Mass Production

In terms of hardware, IRON is built to work safely around people. It uses a flexible lattice shell and features 76 degrees of body freedom. Furthermore, its hands have 21 degrees of movement for high-precision tasks.

He Xiaopeng, Chairman & CEO of XPENG, put on a staff badge on IRON, symbolizing that it has officially become a member of the XPENG team.

On the inside, three AI Turing chips deliver 2,250 TOPS of power. Therefore, the robot can process tasks locally without lag or remote control. Mass production starts late this year. Afterward, commercial rollouts will hit China and global markets in 2027.

Navigating The Automated World

Ultimately, XPENG wants these machines to blend directly into our routines.

While it gets extra condescending on utilizing artificial automation devices, part of it benefits certain circumstances in our daily living.

For instance, IRON can take over dull, exhausting chores and handle delicate physical tasks at home or work. In addition, its safe, soft-shell exterior makes it ideal for working right beside human family members. The robot also learns continuously from real-world habits.

Mainly, these robots can be of great help with people with disabilities. Because of this adaptability, it can act as a helpful retail guide today and evolve into a reliable personal companion tomorrow.

Fueling the Global Physical AI Ecosystem

Financially, robotics is set to become XPENG’s next big growth engine.

More than an EV maker. XPENG enters the humanoid robotics race.

In fact, the robotics division recently raised over $900 million at a $6.3 billion valuation. At the same time, the brand is pushing its global vehicle rollout. It heads to the Philippines on September 25, 2026, to debut the X9 MPV and the L03 SUV coupé. Ultimately, XPENG is tying cars, robots, and shared AI models together to bring automation into daily life.
