Everyone wished their home was just a short walk away from their office. We all do. Well, a major new government partnership is finally making that dream a reality for many Filipino workers.
A Powerful Partnership for Workers
To start with, the Pag-IBIG Fund and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) have officially joined forces. Under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Expanded 4PH Program, they are combining government land with affordable financing options. Furthermore, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling noted that this collaboration tackles both sides of the housing challenge at once. Consequently, more families can now look forward to owning a decent home without breaking the bank.
Creating Walk-to-Work Townships
Moving on to the locations, the project will initially focus on a 14-hectare area in New Clark City. Specifically, this includes a 10-hectare property in Bamban and a 4-hectare property in Capas, Tarlac. In addition to these sites, other locations like Camp John Hay and the Poro Point Freeport Zone are lined up for future projects. Ultimately, the goal is to build convenient walk-to-work communities where residents can enjoy green surroundings, commercial zones, and less time stuck in daily traffic.
A Shared Vision for the Future
On top of that, leadership from both agencies is fully committed to this long-term vision. BCDA President Joshua M. Bingcang and Pag-IBIG Chief Executive Officer Marilene C. Acosta officially signed the memorandum of agreement on October 8. As Acosta highlighted, the initiative is designed to ease daily commuting struggles and give families more precious time together. Ultimately, this partnership proves that government institutions can successfully work hand-in-hand to uplift Filipino workers.
