For travelers and families seeking meaningful summer experiences, events like the Boracay Newcoast Kite Festival 2026 offer more than entertainment; they create shared moments in an iconic island setting. The festival provides a rare opportunity to engage in creative outdoor activities while experiencing Boracay beyond its beaches. It also highlights how destinations continue to evolve by offering immersive cultural and recreational experiences that enrich travel value.

Set from April 27 to 29 at Cove 2, the inaugural Boracay Newcoast Kite Festival transforms the island skies into a dynamic display of color and motion. Designed to usher in the summer season, the three-day event blends competition, artistry, and community engagement, reinforcing Boracay’s position as a destination that continues to diversify its tourism offerings.

High Above: A Festival in the Sky

At the center of the celebration is “High Above: The Grand Kite Competition,” where participants showcase flat kites, 3D figure kites, and geometric designs. With cash prizes of up to PHP 8,000, the competition is expected to draw both seasoned kite flyers and emerging enthusiasts.

Spectators can anticipate precision flying, creative displays, and a lively atmosphere shaped by both local and visiting participants. The event underscores how traditional leisure activities such as kite flying can be elevated into structured, competitive, and tourism-driven experiences.

Creative Skies: Competition and Community

Beyond competition, the festival emphasizes participation and shared enjoyment. Organizers have opened categories for both experts and beginners, ensuring accessibility for families and first-time flyers. Visitors are encouraged to take part directly, shifting the experience from observation to active engagement.

Supported by hospitality partners, the festival contributes to sustainable tourism growth while enhancing the overall visitor experience.

Kite Master Exhibition: Craft and Culture

From April 28 to 29, the Kite Association of the Philippines, led by Kite Master Cris Rosales, will present a curated exhibition of intricately designed kites. The showcase highlights the craftsmanship behind kite-making, emphasizing its cultural and artistic dimensions.

The exhibition serves as a reminder that kite flying is not only recreational but also a form of creative expression grounded in tradition and technical skill.

Hands-On Experiences: Workshops for All Ages

The festival expands its offerings through interactive programs, including kite-making workshops and “Kite Flying 101” sessions. Guests are guided by experienced kite makers as they learn how to design, build, and fly their own creations.

A photography segment and curated photo museum will also document the event’s highlights, allowing visitors to revisit the visual energy of the festival through curated imagery and community contributions.

Designed with comfort and convenience in mind, the partner hotels at Boracay Newcoast offer thoughtfully appointed rooms that provide a welcoming retreat for guests of all ages after a day of vibrant outdoor activities.

Hospitality and Tourism Impact

Supporting the festival are Boracay Newcoast’s hotel partners, including Belmont Hotel Boracay, Savoy Hotel Boracay Newcoast, and Chancellor Hotel Boracay, which offer summer packages starting at PHP 3,700 per night. These include buffet breakfast for two, shuttle transfers, and access to water activities.

Sonny Alvaro, Cluster General Manager for Boracay of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, said:

“The Boracay Newcoast Kite Festival is an opportunity to introduce a fresh attraction that adds vibrancy to the island’s tourism landscape. Events like this, which families and travelers can look forward to each year, help sustain visitor interest, support local businesses, and contribute to the continued growth of Boracay as a world-class destination.”

Significance for Travelers and Locals

The festival reinforces how destination-based events can strengthen both tourism appeal and community participation. By combining recreation, culture, and hospitality, Boracay Newcoast positions itself as more than a leisure stop; it becomes a space for shared seasonal experiences that support local economic activity and long-term visitor engagement.
