Fresh off energetic performances in Bali and Cebu, Manila sound and City Pop fusion band ALYSON is back home in the metro.
Meanwhile, the group is already gearing up for their next big chapter. The blue-suited group features Pio Ligot on vocals and rhythm guitar, Luis Uy on lead guitar, Marcus Mababangloob on drums, Miguel Erfe on bass, and Easel Manes on keyboard. Currently, they are riding high on the momentum of their latest release. As a result, they are teasing an upcoming region-wide bar tour to bring their music closer to ALYSTANS across Luzon.
From QC to the ASEAN Stage
Over the years, ALYSON has carved out a distinct place in the local music scene.
They stand out with their sharp suits and unique fusion of Japanese City Pop and classic Manila Sound. First, they made waves with their debut album, DEFINITELY LOVE!, earning recognition from Billboard Philippines and Billboard Georgia’s NEXT GEN campaign. Later, last July, they mounted a metro release party to showcase their sophomore album, “AFTER OURS”. In this project, they refined their sound with conceptual narratives similar to a teleserye or a KDrama.
Shortly after, the band flew to Indonesia to play the AXEAN Music Festival in Bali before bringing the ALYSON experience to Cebu for September Fever.
Vibed Hard in Bali and Cebu
Performing on international stages was a huge milestone for the group. Reflecting on their set in Bali, drummer Marcus Mababangloob shared,
It was a dream to be able to play outside the Philippines.”
Furthermore, connecting with fellow ASEAN artists made Marcus realize the deep parallels across neighboring music scenes. Ultimately, he described this interconnected regional community as a spider-verse of sorts.
In addition, that same warm energy carried over to September Fever in Cebu. In fact, Marcus described Cebu as a ‘homecourt they never knew’. He added,
I felt like a lot of the crowd knew our music and were fans despite us never playing there before.”
Surprisingly, the energy reached a whole new level when a local fan stepped up as an unofficial dance instructor for the audience. As Marcus noted,
He got everyone dancing in a way that got us even more hype. A real treat. We really felt the love from everyone.”
Looking Ahead to the Regional Tour
Overall, conquering two major stages in such a short time reaffirmed ALYSON’s musical identity. Moreover, it strengthened their desire to connect with listeners across Southeast Asia as proud carriers of OPM. To build on this momentum, their record label Offshore Music is currently planning a Luzon-wide bar tour.
