The holiday season is getting a little more festive at What About Coffee (WACo), as the café welcomes the community to its Capitol Hills location with a new lineup of Christmas drinks and a special holiday raffle.
According to Yela Gregorio, General Manager of WACo, the launch is both a celebration of the season and a way for the café to become more closely connected with its neighborhood.

“This event is all about welcoming WACo into the community and also launching our Christmas drinks and our Christmas promo, which is the Vespa Raffle,” Gregorio shares.

Rather than sticking to the usual coffee rotation, WACo is taking a playful approach to its holiday menu, introducing familiar Christmas flavors in drink form.
Familiar Flavors, New Sips

Among the new offerings are flavors inspired by Filipino Christmas favorites and classic desserts, including puto bumbong, cinnamon spiced latte, Black Forest, and tiramisu.
For Gregorio, the idea is simple: have fun with the menu while giving regulars something new to look forward to.
“Honestly, it’s really just for fun and to celebrate Christmas,” she says. “We like the idea of having fun with our menu and bringing something new and exciting to the community.”
The seasonal drinks add a festive touch to WACo’s regular offerings without taking away from the casual atmosphere that keeps guests coming back.
A Full-Circle Moment
The Capitol Hills branch also carries a bit of history for the people behind WACo. The same space previously housed Pat & Pat, the restaurant where their venture into the food business began.
When the restaurant grew, the team eventually transformed the space into a café while keeping the location close to the community they had already built.

“It feels like a full circle moment,” Gregorio explains. “We do already have regulars here, some loyal guests, and it feels great that they’re back here and they’re happy because there’s something new again in this community.”
For the team, the location is especially meaningful because they also live nearby. “This is home,” Gregorio adds.
A Café That Feels Like Home
That sense of familiarity is something WACo hopes to carry into its new chapter. Gregorio says the goal is for guests to feel comfortable enough that the café becomes part of their everyday routine.
“We want them to feel at home,” she says.

Seeing familiar faces, recognizing servers, and knowing a customer’s “usual” order are small moments that tell the team they are becoming more than just another café in the neighborhood.
With its Christmas drinks, food, and welcoming atmosphere, WACo is inviting Simple Peeps to experience the holiday season at Capitol Hills—one festive cup at a time.
