Villaraza & Angangco, known as V&A Law, recently celebrated its 45th anniversary with the first-ever Pancho Villaraza Cup, a tribute to the firm’s legacy and its late founder, F. Arthur “Pancho” L. Villaraza.
The event honored Villaraza’s leadership and the foundation he built for the firm. Held at the West Course of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, the tournament brought together more than 100 players and golf enthusiasts, including clients, colleagues and friends, for a day of competition, camaraderie, and celebration.
The tournament opened with a ceremonial tee-off led by Artie Villaraza, brother of the late Villaraza; Raoul Angangco, V&A Law chairman and chief executive; and Bienvenido Somera Jr., a senior partner at the firm.
House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez attended the luncheon and awards ceremony, joined by Deputy Speaker David “Jayjay” C. Suarez. Also in attendance was Ramon S. Bagatsing Jr., former Philippine ambassador to India and Nepal.
The event builds on a series of initiatives commemorating V&A Law’s 45th year, which have included hosting the first Inter-Pacific Bar Association Southeast Asia regional conference in Manila, a blood drive in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, an outreach program for an orphanage, and a firm-wide bowling tournament. Upcoming anniversary events include client appreciation dinners and the annual V&A Law Sportsfest.
The firm said the Pancho Villaraza Cup is set to become a new tradition, celebrating both excellence in the legal profession and the sport of golf.
