Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival is here! And this year features a compelling race for the Best Actress award. Former child star Xyriel Manabat competes alongside popular creator Sassa Gurl. Both actors take on lead roles that push them beyond their usual screen work.
As a result, the competition presents a contrast between a seasoned background and newcomer momentum.
Two Distinct Acting Roles
In the movie Stuck on You, Xyriel Manabat plays Sheryl Bunga. Her character is a heartbroken manicurist who gets caught in a dangerous plot. Along the way, she falls for a man played by River Joseph whom she may have to eliminate. On the other hand, Sassa Gurl stars in Multwoh (Patay na Patay Sa ’Yo). She plays Marcel, a student who returns as a ghost. Specifically, Marcel seeks to confess hidden feelings to a long-time crush, played by Joao Constancia.
Proven Talent and a Rising Contender
Xyriel brings a long acting résumé to the festival.
For example, she won FAMAS awards as a child actress. She later showed her dramatic range in projects like Dirty Linen and Senior High.
In contrast, Sassa Gurl enters with recent momentum.
She earned Breakthrough Actress of the Year at the 2026 Platinum Stallion Media Awards for Bar Boys: After School. Therefore, this race pairs an established dramatic performer against an unexpected contender.
Screening Dates and Ticket Options
The festival runs from September 23 to October 4. Screenings take place at Gateway Cineplex 18, TriNoma, Fairview Terraces, and several Ayala Malls. Meanwhile, regular admission is priced at ₱250 per ticket. Discounted tickets cost ₱200 for students, senior citizens, PWDs, and designated cardholders. Furthermore, a ₱2,000 festival pass grants access to all seven feature films and 19 student shorts.
