For fans of indie folk and OPM, The Ransom Collective’s return is more than just a new release—it is a chance to reconnect with the warmth, sincerity, and musical craftsmanship that have made them a staple of the Philippine music scene. After four years of silence, this new single offers listeners an opportunity to revisit the band’s familiar sound while discovering fresh layers of instrumentation, emotion, and creativity. Whether you are a longtime follower or a new listener, it reminds us why music can feel both deeply personal and universally uplifting.

A Long-Awaited Return
Written in 2020 and finalized across multiple studios, the track marks The Ransom Collective’s first official release in four years. The six-piece Manila-based band describes it as a “gentle reopening of a well-worn photo album: familiar, warm, and unexpectedly alive.” The song’s journey mirrors the band’s own—starting as a spontaneous jam session, then being shelved due to life changes, only to be carefully completed in late 2025.
“It actually lived in the studio for more than three years,” shares Kian Ransom, vocalist and guitarist. “We recorded parts even before the pandemic. It was a challenge to coordinate remotely, but finishing it in Manila felt like the perfect closure and reintroduction.”

From Inspiration to Composition
Built on bright, earnest momentum, the track channels the starry-eyed excitement of new love. Kian explains that the song began with a simple line: “You walk in the room, and I get nervous.” “It reminded me of when I was first getting to know my wife,” he adds. “The song captures that awkward, joyful, and exciting feeling that is so universal.”
Sonically, the release introduces bossa nova rhythms, jazzy harmonies, and rich indie-pop textures to the band’s signature acoustic folk. Keyboardist Lily Gonzales highlights the experimentation behind it: “We’ve always loved jazz but never imagined it fitting into our sound. The outro percussion and voicings ended up feeling both fresh and familiar—a perfect blend.”
Manager Redd Claudio adds, “Our goal was to create a song that resonates emotionally while remaining accessible. We wanted longtime fans to feel at home and new listeners to discover something special about The Ransom Collective.”

Why You Should Listen
This new track is not just a song—it is an experience that reminds us why music matters. It blends nostalgia with discovery, offering comfort for returning fans and curiosity for newcomers. The layered instrumentation and heartfelt lyrics make it ideal for introspection, quiet reflection, or simply enjoying the joy of new love.
Leah Halili, the band’s bassist, notes, “This track is a reminder that even after time apart, our music still connects us. It’s about gratitude, growth, and celebrating the small but meaningful moments in life.”
For those seeking an authentic OPM experience in 2026, this release represents both a continuation of The Ransom Collective’s journey and an invitation to feel, reflect, and enjoy the simple magic of music.
