Nearly eight years after “Isa Pang Araw” captured hearts as the viral theme song for the hit film Miss Granny. Popularized by the Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo, the deeply personal story behind the track is coming full circle.

This time, the original writer is finally stepping into the spotlight.

A Heartfelt Hit Comes Full Circle

Initially, Sarah Geronimo turned “Isa Pang Araw” into a major hit for the 2018 movie Miss Granny. The track went on to win an Awit Award and earn a FAMAS nomination. Nearly eight years later, the song’s original writer, Miguel Mendoza, is stepping up to lend his own voice to the piece.

From songwriter to singer: Miguel Mendoza shares the deeply personal story behind “Isa Pang Araw” with his newly released rendition.

Ultimately, Mendoza is returning to the composition not just as its creator, but as its singer to share the story that started it all.

Born From Loss and Longing

Rather than just another assignment, the track emerged from a deeply painful moment in Mendoza’s life. Specifically, he wrote it while grieving the passing of his father. As Mendoza shares,

I wasn’t simply trying to write another song for the film. At that point in my life, I was grieving the loss of my father, and I found myself writing from a place of longing. Isa Pang Araw became my way of expressing everything I wished I could still say and every moment I wished I could relive.”

A Personal Homecoming

For Mendoza, releasing his own intimate rendition feels like a true homecoming rather than a simple cover. He explains,

For years, people connected with the song through Sarah’s beautiful performance, and I’m incredibly grateful for that. But this recording is different because it allows listeners to hear the song from the voice of the person who experienced the emotions that inspired every lyric.”

Consequently, his version of “Isa Pang Araw” is now available on all major digital streaming platforms via FlipMusic.

Originally written while grieving his father’s passing, Miguel Mendoza releases his intimate version of the Awit Award–winning hit “Isa Pang Araw.”

By sharing his own voice, Miguel Mendoza offers fans a fresh, intimate perspective on a beloved classic. Furthermore, by re-rooting the track in the raw grief that inspired it, this release bridges the gap between creator and listener.

Ultimately, it gives “Isa Pang Araw” a meaningful new life.
