During a recent press conference at the Sunset Marquis Hotel, Philippines Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco highlighted the country’s scenic landscapes, world-renowned beaches, and rich biodiversity, inviting Hollywood filmmakers to consider the Philippines as a prime filming destination.
“The Philippines, with its archipelago of over 7,600 islands, is the perfect canvas for filmmaking because of the diversity of our destinations — from the pristine beaches of Boracay, Palawan, Siquijor, Cebu, and Camiguin to the lush landscapes of Batanes in the north and Bukidnon in Mindanao,” Frasco said. “From the historic walls of Intramuros in Metro Manila to the bustling city of Cebu, there’s a wealth of locations where filmmakers can bring their stories to life.”
Frasco also emphasized the country’s English proficiency and robust creative industry, calling Filipino talent a valuable asset for international productions.
“The beauty of filming in the Philippines is not just in its breathtaking locations but also in its people,” she said. “The country is home to a wealth of creative talent, a skilled local film production workforce, and a filmmaking ecosystem that continues to grow through national efforts to support the industry.”
She also pointed out the incentives available to foreign productions.
“Our president recently signed the Create More Law, which provides incentives for film productions that partner with local companies,” Frasco said. “Under this initiative, registered tourism enterprises can receive benefits, including an income tax holiday of four to six years, depending on the filming location, lower corporate income tax rates, and exemptions from import duties on production equipment.”
Frasco underscored the government’s commitment to making the Philippines a competitive choice for international filmmakers.
“With our stunning landscapes, talented workforce, and new incentives, we look forward to welcoming more filmmakers to experience the magic of the Philippines.”
