The story of the iconic Filipino band Eraserheads just won’t stop capturing hearts around the world, earning prestigious accolades on the international film festival stage. Here is a look at the latest major milestone for their acclaimed documentary and the team bringing local talent to the global audience.
New York LIMEHOF
First and foremost, the acclaimed music documentary Eraserheads: Combo On The Run has added another major international distinction to its belt. Director Maria Diane Ventura was honored with the Best International Director Award at the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) Music Documentary Film Festival in New York. Notably, the recognition coincided with a festival screening on September 27, 2026, which was immediately followed by a special Q&A discussion featuring both Ventura and Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia.
Filipino Reps International
In fact, for Ventura, this recognition represents far more than personal success—it serves as a vital platform to share a crucial chapter of Philippine pop culture with a global audience. Reflecting on this meaningful milestone, she shared:
Every recognition Combo on the Run receives still feels a little surreal to me. We made a film that is deeply rooted in our culture, our music and our collective experience as Filipinos, so to watch it continue to travel and connect with audiences outside of home is incredibly meaningful,”
Ventura said.
More than the award itself, I’m grateful that the film continues to create space for our stories and our artists on an international stage. I’ve always believed in the power and brilliance of Filipino talent. If Combo on the Run can contribute even a little to bringing more attention to that, then every difficult decision, sleepless night and challenge it took to make this film has been worth it.”
Taking Local Talent to the World Stage
Furthermore, this latest accolade builds on the documentary’s growing global momentum following its initial theatrical run in the Philippines and subsequent international screenings. Produced by DVent Productions, the film reinforces the company’s dedicated commitment to showcasing Filipino music and cinema worldwide. Meanwhile, DVent has also been expanding into large-scale live entertainment, as demonstrated by their recent co-production of the sold-out concert featuring Ely Buendia and Chito Miranda at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena on August 30, 2026.
