SB19 is proving that Filipino culture is one of the country’s greatest exports, and their newest role invites the world to discover it firsthand.

Sometimes music goes beyond entertainment to become a bridge between cultures, identities, and home. For SB19, that moment has arrived again.

The global P-Pop phenomenon has been named the Philippines’ newest Tourism Ambassadors by the Department of Tourism (DOT), which commended the five-member group for its record-breaking success and growing influence as cultural storytellers.

A Homecoming in a Box

Over the weekend, the DOT launched a digital campaign by sending SB19 a curated “Galingbayan” package ahead of their U.S. and Japan tour dates.

SB19 All the way! P-pop boy group SB19 is taking on their new role as Philippine Tourism Ambassadors.

Inspired by the iconic balikbayan box—a symbol of love, sacrifice, and the ties between overseas Filipinos and home—the gesture struck an emotional chord with A’TIN worldwide.

After the members shared the package on social media, they confirmed what many suspected: SB19 would officially represent Philippine tourism globally.

The reveal followed days of online speculation after the DOT posted five goat emojis on social media—a cheerful nod that quickly sparked fan conversations. The partnership demonstrates a shifting landscape in global tourism, where music, fandom, and cultural influence inspire travel just as effectively as traditional destinations.

SB19’s talent is undeniable—their music is powerful, and so is their influence,”

said Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay, noting the group’s capacity to connect with audiences across the United States, Europe, ASEAN, and beyond.

She highlighted how Filipino-Americans who discovered SB19 online are now traveling home to see the group live, while fans in neighboring Asian countries are increasingly adding the Philippines to their travel itineraries.

Whether reconnecting with their roots or discovering Filipino culture for the first time, visitors are drawn by their shared love for the group—and stay to explore the country’s people, traditions, and creative scene.

Music as a Passport

As Tourism Ambassadors, SB19 will collaborate with the DOT on campaigns encouraging A’TIN and international travelers to explore the Philippines beyond the concert stage.

The global P-Pop group brings Filipino pride and culture to the world stage.

For the group, the appointment represents more than just another career milestone.

We want to make a genuine difference, so we’re teaming up with partners who understand our vision. Bringing our music to established international markets lets us connect with the global Filipino diaspora, share our culture, and give them that feeling of home,”

Josh Cullen shared.

Known for directing much of their own visual content and incorporating local folklore into their work, SB19 celebrates Filipino culture through a modern, globally accessible lens. Their international breakout hit “GENTO” proved to be more than a chart success—it introduced global audiences to a distinctly Filipino creative voice.

A Global Fandom with Local Roots

Dedicated A’TIN communities have flourished across ASEAN, the United States, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, and beyond.

International fans travel to Manila for concerts, while overseas fan chapters organize tribute projects—ranging from digital campaigns to billboard displays celebrating the group’s achievements.

That passionate global following mirrors the key international markets the Department of Tourism hopes to engage: travelers seeking authentic cultural experiences rooted in genuine emotional connection.

Rather than simply promoting destinations, SB19 inspires audiences to experience the Philippines through its people, music, creativity, and heritage.

Flying the Philippine Flag Higher Than Ever

The announcement arrives as SB19 embarks on one of the most significant international runs of their career.

On July 29, the group will make history as the first Filipino act to throw the ceremonial first pitch at a Major League Baseball game before the Chicago White Sox face the New York Yankees.

The following day, they will become the first Filipino group to perform at Lollapalooza Chicago in Grant Park, bringing P-Pop to one of the world’s most celebrated music festivals.

Their international tour continues in August with performances at Summer Sonic 2026 in Osaka and Tokyo, where they will share the lineup with fellow Filipino artists Ena Mori and BINI, the latter of whom were also recently appointed as Tourism Ambassadors.

More Than Ambassadors

For years, SB19 has carried the Philippine flag through every performance, sold-out venue, and milestone abroad.

SB19 proudly poses with their official Department of Tourism markers after being named Philippine Tourism Ambassadors.

As they break barriers for Filipino artists worldwide, their partnership with the Department of Tourism signals a broader vision: music becomes an invitation, and culture becomes the destination.

Every stage is an opportunity to tell the story of the Philippines—because for SB19, representing their country has always meant bringing a piece of home wherever they go.
