Welcome to Washday, my new weekly column on Simpol.ph. Here, I step away from food and explore the art of savoring life. The title encapsulates my desire to adopt a more relaxed, reflective, and casual mindset — one my soul has long been yearning for.
For years, I was buried under the weight of routine, the clutter of daily challenges, and the lingering remnants of yesterday’s messes. Recently, I decided it was time for a reset. I stepped back from some of my responsibilities at Simpol.ph, entrusting the platform’s day-to-day growth to my capable team. In doing so, I made room for something essential: joy. Now, I want to share that journey with you.
In this column, which will come out every Tuesday, I’ll set aside my chef’s hat, embrace life beyond the kitchen, and reconnect with passions I may have neglected. Together, we’ll unpack life’s daily clutter, rinse away the unnecessary, and uncover the lessons hidden in the suds. After all, isn’t that what makes our journeys meaningful? Just as a good wash leaves you feeling refreshed and ready to face a new day, I hope these reflections bring clarity, renewal, and perhaps even a spark of inspiration.
So, let’s begin. Grab your proverbial laundry basket, and let’s sort through life’s mix of challenges and triumphs — one load at a time.
Here are the five tips for a refreshing life — your personal washday guide.
Clear the clutter, inside and out. Just as you would sort through a pile of laundry, take time to declutter both your mind and surroundings. Whether it’s journaling your thoughts or reorganizing your space, clearing away the old makes room for the new.
Years ago, I learned to meditate, and it has been a transformative tool in my life. By simply focusing on your breath, you gain a deeper awareness of what truly matters — and, perhaps more importantly, what does not.
Embrace small routines. Small, intentional routines can anchor your day — a morning stretch, a quiet cup of coffee, or a brisk walk. These simple acts serve as reset buttons, keeping your spirit refreshed and your mind focused.
Rituals, as I like to call them, create a sense of stability in an unpredictable world. They don’t just ground you; they provide a rhythm, a reassuring structure that allows you to navigate life’s uncertainties with greater ease.
Celebrate the suds and the mess. Life is messy, and that’s part of its beauty. Mistakes and setbacks are inevitable, but they are also opportunities to learn and grow. Instead of resisting chaos, embrace it. Some of life’s most valuable lessons emerge from disorder.
Over the years, I’ve learned that a clear mind can transform any mess into something meaningful. With the right perspective, even life’s untidiness can become a work of art.
Practice gratitude daily. In the rush of everyday life, it’s easy to overlook the small victories. But taking a moment to appreciate them can shift your perspective. Gratitude acts like a gentle rinse, washing away stress and revealing the bright spots in your day.
This mindset has carried me through challenges, allowing me to find meaning even in failure. Over time, I’ve come to see setbacks not as roadblocks but as stepping stones toward success.
Take risks, refresh your routine. Don’t be afraid to shake things up — even if it means getting a little messy in the process. Whether it’s trying a new hobby or taking a bold step in your career, growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone.
Life is not meant to be lived on autopilot. Taking risks, big or small, keeps it dynamic and full of possibility.
So, join me on this journey. Let’s refresh, rejuvenate, and, yes, occasionally mess things up again — because what is life without a little risk?
Welcome to your weekly Washday. Let’s get started.
