Indie rock artist Ligaya Escueta—now a full band, went for it.
Ligaya Escueta has come a long way since hitting local gig stages at just 15 years old. After building her name as a solo singer-songwriter with her 2022 album Laughing In Milk and her early 2025 release Dollweb, she has officially taken the next big step in her journey by evolving into a full four-piece alternative band. Officially signing under Offshore Music, the lineup brings together Kristo Mercado on bass and guitar, Diego Cerrudo on guitar, Ninja Nicolas on drums, and Ligaya leading on vocals, bass, and guitar.
Good Friends, Good Music
To begin with, the shift from a solo act to a full band happened very organically. During a recent label signing with Offshore Music, the quartet formally introduced its complete lineup. Kristo Mercado handles bass and guitar, while Diego Cerrudo plays guitar. Meanwhile, Ninja Nicolas holds down the drums, and Ligaya Escueta leads on vocals, bass, and guitar.

In fact, the transition felt completely seamless because the members were already close friends off-stage. As a result, their dynamic and sound synchronicities were locked in long before making things official. Naturally, taking a collaborative approach means splitting songwriting duties in fresh ways.
Label manager Dani Mendoza even noted that signing the contract was a mere formality, as the group was already operating as a tight unit.
Deliberate and Graceful Punk
Furthermore, Ligaya’s musical background provides a solid foundation for this new era. She started playing small gigs at a very early age. Her unique blend of diary-like lyrics and heavy rock soundscapes even landed the group a slot at SXSW Sydney. Consequently, critics have praised her approach to punk as both “deliberate” and “graceful.”
Ultimately, this move from solo artist to four-piece band marks a thrilling milestone. With deep friendships at the core and a shared creative drive, the group is set to make a lasting impact on the indie rock scene.
