With the busy days arriving without pause, it is sometimes difficult to slow down and prepare even a quick meal for yourself. This Chef Tatung’s Bistek recipe, however, you will be able to cook a meal without needing to spend too much time in the kitchen.

The succulent beef that has been soaking in the bistek sauce, along with the subtle crunch of the softened onion is what makes this bistek worth cooking again and again. With every spoonful of this dish on a plate with a hot bowl of rice, the sauce seeps in each grain and makes the meal even more delicious.


Ingredients

500 g. beef samgyup cut
Bistek Sauce:
1 cup water
6 Tbsps. soy sauce
3 Tbsps. calamansi juice
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 pack Maggi Magic Sarap
For the Bistek:
Oil, for sautéing
6 cloves garlic, minced
Bistek sauce
Beef
Black pepper, to taste
2 pcs. white onion, cut into rounds
Bistek:
Fried garlic
Spring onions
Bistek sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat up the pan.
  2. In a bowl, add the water, soy sauce, calamansi juice, sugar, and Maggi magic Sarap. Mix well.
  3. Pour oil in the heated pan. Sauté the garlic. Once it has browned and become crisp, scoop it out.
  4. When all the fried garlic has been scooped out, pour in the Bistek Sauce. Leave it to simmer.
  5. Once the Bistek Sauce starts simmering, add the beef. Make sure tyo separate all the pieces so all the beef cooks evenly. Season with black pepper. Add the white onion. Toss it around so the onion can be coated in the sauce.

Pinoy Bistek Sandwich

Ingredients

1 pc. baguette bread
Mayonnaise
Bistek
Melting cheese
Sliced white onion
Fried garlic
Bistek sauce
Spring onions

Instructions

  1. Slice the baguette in half.
  2. Preheat the oven.
  3. Spread mayonnaise on the baguette bread. Grab some bistek and add it, then top it with melting cheese, white onion, fried garlic, and bistek sauce. Pop it in the oven and let the cheese melt.
  4. Once the cheese has melted, remove it from the oven. Garnish with spring onions.

Bistek ala Gyudon

Instructions

  1. Grab a bowl filled with freshly cooked rice. Top with bistek. Make sure to include the onions. Garnish with fried garlic and spring onions.
  2. Pour a generous amount of bistek sauce over it.
