Landers Superstore has launched its largest European Festival yet, a month-long event running from March 7 to March 30 that brings more than 1,000 premium European products to its members. Along with exclusive product offerings, the festival highlights cultural showcases, interactive experiences, and special promotions designed to immerse shoppers in the best of Europe.
The grand opening gathered diplomats, business leaders, and industry representatives, underscoring the festival’s role in strengthening economic and cultural ties between Europe and the Philippines.
At the launch event held at the superstore’s branch in Arca South on March 5, 2025, events host and actor Rafa Siguion-Reyna welcomed guests and set the scene, pointing to the Arc de Triomphe backdrop, the European flags, and attendees in themed attire.
Among those present were Ambassador Miguel Utray from the Embassy of Spain, market analyst Jose Santos, trade officer Yasmina Paras, senior international market advisor of the British Embassy Wendy Ananuevo, and European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines executive director Florian Gottein.
The grand launch of the European Festival 2025 kicked off in style with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, joined by European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) executive director Florian Gottein, Landers deputy chief executive officer Bill Cummings, Ambassador of Spain to the Philippines Miguel Utray, British Embassy representative Windy Añonuevo, celebrities Carla Abellana and Daniel Matsunaga. Ambassador Utray recognized the effort Landers has made in bringing European products, particularly those from Spain, to Filipino consumers.
“I am particularly grateful for your recognition of the value of Spanish products and your efforts in promoting them to your Filipino clients alongside many other European offerings,” he said. “This initiative has not only provided us with a nostalgic taste of home but has also introduced new customers to the rich and diverse flavors that Spain has to offer.”
He expressed hope that more Spanish goods would be added to Landers’ selection in the future, saying their presence enhances the shopping experience and deepens the cultural connection between Spain and the Philippines.
Following the ambassador’s remarks, a flamenco performance paid tribute to Spain’s traditions, setting the tone for the rest of the festival.
Gottein of the European Chamber of Commerce spoke next, emphasizing the growing trade relationship between Europe and the Philippines. He noted that Landers’ efforts align with the chamber’s mission of promoting trade between the two regions.
“I myself have been a Landers customer for almost eight years now, and I truly appreciate how you bring in so many quality products from around the world especially from Europe,” he said.
He highlighted that 1,000 European products have been introduced for the festival, with 400 coming from Spain alone. He also pointed to ongoing negotiations for a Philippines-EU Free Trade Agreement, which, once finalized, would lower taxes on imported goods, expand market options, and make European products more accessible to Filipino consumers.
Landers Superstore deputy chief executive officer Bill Cummings described the festival as the company’s most ambitious yet.
“Each year, we bring top global brands to our members, but this time, we’re taking it even further. The Landers European Festival is our most ambitious project yet!” he said.
The festival features a curated selection of European brands, from premium food and beverage products to health, beauty, and household essentials. To enhance the shopping experience, Landers is rolling out the European Caravan, a traveling showcase where members can sample gourmet selections, explore cultural exhibits, and shop for exclusive collectibles. The caravan will stop at Landers locations in Nuvali, Otis, and Arcovia.
Cummings also announced activities for families and children, including meet-and-greet sessions with Peppa Pig and Mario and Luigi at select stores. Landers Central will offer free character portraits, while Doppio Café locations will host exclusive dining experiences.
