Your life is a movie you’ve been meticulously filming, scene by scene. Blending the gray scales of daily struggle with the neon hues of your dreams. But then someone asks for a part, promising a masterpiece and delivering a disaster. Leaving you in pieces, all shattered.

Betrayal forces a shift. You stop trying to patch the holes in the old plot and start recognizing that the writer—you—outlasted the storm.

Dom Guyot and Zae capture this exact turning point. Moving past the cliché “sad song” trope, their new collaboration is a high-energy anthem for anyone ready to flip the script. It’s a summer-charged confrontation that transforms manipulation into a masterclass in personal power.

Reclaiming the Narrative Through Song

In their latest genre-bending release, “Manloloko,” the duo merges the heavy pulse of Brazilian funk with the rhythmic flair of Afrobeat pop. While many tracks dwell on the pain that deception causes, “Manloloko” exposes that deception.

The song stands as a firm boundary against those who exploit others for personal gain, whether they are romantic partners, friends, or figures of authority. Through unfiltered storytelling, the duo creates a narrative that finally holds accountable those men who believe they can deceive without consequence.

Dom Guyot, an emerging force in the R&B-pop scene, describes the inspiration behind the track:

I wanted a track that feels like a big FU to people who have used me in the past. It’s like a sequel to Kabit, but this time I’m taking my power back and giving it a much more positive and empowering message and a very forward writing style instead of the satirical style Kabit had.”

The Spark of a Perfect Collaboration

During the development of the track, the need for a distinct, sharp energy became clear, leading Dom to recruit the acclaimed rapper Zae. Having been a long-time fan of her work, he reached out via social media last July.

The connection was instantaneous. Dom explains that the song required a female perspective because,

The girls and the gays are statistically almost always victimized by men who can’t keep it in their pants.”

Regarding the choice of his collaborator, Dom notes:

Zae just felt like the perfect fit. Her voice, her writing style, her demeanor. We connected instantly. The vibes were there from the jump, and that mutual respect and admiration really shaped what the track ended up becoming.”

A Fusion of Sound and Chemistry

Each artist contributed their own unique lyrical and sonic identity to form a cohesive masterpiece. While Dom handled the melodic hooks, Zae’s verses remained fully her own, resulting in a track brimming with natural chemistry.

Sonically, the production of “Manloloko” draws heavy inspiration from Afrobeats and Brazilian funk, yet it remains anchored in a contemporary pop-rap sound. The track prioritizes rhythm and attitude to ensure it delivers moments of catharsis directly to the dance floor.

Solidarity Against Misogyny

A standout feature of the release is the conversational bridge. In this section, conflict is rejected in favor of a united front against manipulation and misogyny. This moment of solidarity reinforces a larger message: empowerment is grown through collective honesty and self-respect.

Dom elaborates on the importance of this shift:

Society loves to crucify the gays and girls for the simplest things yet let straight men get away with everything. So that moment of solidarity felt important.”

Manloloko” is currently available on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
