Turn up the volume!
July is officially here, and that means one of the most exciting times of the year for local music has arrived. Fan or not, there is something truly magical about the way homegrown music connects us all.
This year, the festivities are bigger, bolder, and more inclusive than ever, presented by Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP). Let’s dive into what makes this season so incredibly special.
Bringing “Pinoy Coded” To Life
Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) is officially back this July 2026.
Consequently, it is bringing some fresh, modern energy to the local music scene. Established back in 2014, this month-long celebration of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) has spent over a decade building a massive community.

This year, the festival is rocking the theme “Pinoy Coded”. The goal is to celebrate Filipino identity and connect with the next generation.
As OPM President Ogie Alcasid explains,
The theme this year was a product of being exposed to current trends and trying to engage with a younger core audience.
But we still wanted to retain that love for our music and our culture. Hence, why we went with the theme Pinoy Coded. It celebrates Filipino music, but at the same time, it also acknowledges the ever-growing and evolving landscape and audience of our local music industry.”
Expanding the Beat Beyond Manila
To bring this vision to life, LMP 2026 is spreading its wings far beyond Metro Manila. For instance, the exciting OPM Spotlight concert series will run all month long. OPM is teaming up with regional partners in Baguio, Palawan, and Iloilo to make the festival truly inclusive.
As OPM Executive Director Gab Cabangon adds,
For this year’s celebration, we’re excited to collaborate with productions outside of Metro Manila,”
and,
It has always been our goal to expand the LMP celebration to different parts of the country so that we get to celebrate and highlight the diversity and excellence of Filipino music and Filipino artists.”
Additionally, music fans can look forward to cozy acoustic vibes during the Rockwell Series from July 25 to 31. Meanwhile, aspiring artists can grab the mic themselves at the OPM-ic Open Mic Night on July 29.
Elevating the Industry Together
However, this celebration is not just about live gigs.
In addition, there is a major focus on helping the creative community grow through the Music Talk Series at Trinoma on July 25. This half-day forum is designed to help creators, producers, and students navigate the business side of things.

Gab Cabangon, the Executive Director of OPM, really emphasizes the importance of sharing knowledge across the creative community. He points out that when artists and music professionals have access to the right information, they can make better-informed choices, elevate their craft, and truly thrive in their careers.
On top of that, he envisions the Music Talk Series as a perfect networking space where people can connect, build relationships, and collaborate.
Ultimately, he believes that having a clear, realistic picture of where the local music scene stands today is the key to figuring out how the entire industry can adapt, grow, and improve together in such a rapidly changing landscape.
Ultimately, this joint effort by OPM and FILSCAP is a powerful movement to keep our homegrown sound thriving.
FILSCAP President Arturo “Nonoy Tan” Lui Pio perfectly sums it up:
That’s why Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) is a meaningful celebration for us. Through our partnership with OPM, we continue to advance this shared advocacy of encouraging more Filipinos to appreciate, support, and take pride in original Filipino music and the creators whose voices, stories, and creativity shape the sound of our nation.”
At the end of the day, this celebration is a beautiful reminder of the power of our own stories. By showing up for live gigs, sharing local tracks, and supporting our artists, we keep the heart of Filipino culture beating strong.
So, let’s head out, join the crowds, and celebrate the incredible artists who write the soundtrack to our lives.
Maligayang Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino!
