When Anne Aniag became a mother, she didn’t feel strong. She felt overwhelmed. Sleepless nights blurred into long days, her energy drained, and her body felt unfamiliar. Like many Filipino moms, she struggled to make time for herself, caught between caring for her child and losing sight of her own well-being. Her journey back to wellness began with something many moms overlook—self-care for moms.

“You give everything to your child,” she says. “But one day, you wake up and wonder, ‘Where did I go?’”

Determined to reclaim her strength, Aniag took a small but powerful first step in her self-care journey: movement. Instead of diving into intense workouts, she started with something familiar and joyful—dance.

“I asked myself, what’s something I love that doesn’t feel intimidating? For me, that was dance,” she shares. She danced in her living room, joined community classes, and found pockets of time to move. With every step, she began rebuilding not just her strength, but her identity.

That small step sparked a chain reaction. Dance led to strength training. Strength training encouraged better eating habits. Through consistent, simple self-care for moms, Aniag saw her energy and confidence grow.

Building a Movement Through Small Steps in Self-Care for Moms

She began sharing her progress online, creating a digital journal filled with real stories, fitness tips, and honest reflections. Her authenticity resonated. Filipino moms flooded her inbox, saying, “I feel the same way” and “Thank you for showing me it’s possible.”

From these connections, FitMom Project PH was born—a thriving online fitness community that empowers Filipino moms to prioritize self-care through movement, nutrition, and mindset.

“It’s no longer just about me,” Aniag says. “It’s about building a movement of strong, resilient moms lifting each other up.”

Through FitMom Project PH, she now coaches 70 to 90 women in regular online fitness classes. Her message of self-care for moms has reached a global audience, proving that transformation doesn’t require a gym, expensive equipment, or drastic changes—just commitment to small, consistent actions.

“Motherhood is one of the toughest fitness programs out there,” she laughs. “You lift babies, run on little sleep, and solve problems non-stop. That takes real strength.”

Redefining Strength and Prioritizing Self-Care for Filipino Moms

Aniag debunks the myth that moms don’t have time for fitness. “You don’t need a gym. I work out in my garage using just dumbbells. If you don’t have that, carry your baby up and down the stairs. Turn playtime into movement. The key is to move.”

When it comes to healthy eating, she keeps it simple. “We already eat every day. Healthy eating for moms isn’t about restriction. It’s about making better choices with what you have.”

But Aniag knows the biggest hurdle isn’t physical—it’s emotional. The guilt. The pressure to do it all. The belief that self-care for moms is selfish.

“Society teaches moms to sacrifice everything. But real strength comes from knowing when to care for yourself,” she explains. “When moms feel strong, the whole family thrives.”

That belief lies at the core of FitMom Project PH. Self-care for moms isn’t indulgence—it’s necessity. When Filipino moms prioritize their well-being, they show up more energized, more loving, and more present for their families.

“When you care for yourself, you give your family the best version of you,” she says. “Even 10 minutes of movement or one healthy meal can shift your mindset.”

Aniag urges moms to start small. “You don’t need to change your life overnight. Just take one small step today. Move a little. Eat with intention. Breathe.”

Today, Aniag continues to grow FitMom Project PH, connecting with more Filipino moms ready to embrace strength through self-care. Her journey proves that fitness for moms doesn’t need to be perfect—it just needs to be consistent.

“Start with what you love. Build from there. Self-care for moms is possible, and it’s powerful,” she says.

Because when Filipino moms take that first brave step toward caring for themselves, they don’t just transform their bodies—they transform their lives.
