Unveiling acclaimed actress Shamaine Buencamino as the lead actress, Dulaang Filipino Sining Bulakenyo will once again stage Floy Quintos’ meaningful play, ATANG for Singkaban Festival 2026. Ultimately, this powerful story connects our past with art while reflecting the personal journeys that shape who we are today.

Dulaang Filipino Sining Bulakenyo

Dulaang Filipino Sining Bulakenyo (DFSB) is the premier provincial theater group of Bulacan. Supported heavily by the provincial government through the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO), this company provides a vital platform for local talent while preserving the province’s rich heritage. Moreover, DFSB plays a major role in the annual Singkaban Festival every September. For instance, they are staging an all-Bulakenyo production of Floy Quintos’s play Atang at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Cultural Center.

This project follows their previous hit historical dramas, such as Ang Awit ng Dalagang Marmol. Ultimately, these elite productions are offered completely free of charge, giving the local community full access to philippine theater.

Singkaban Festival 2026

Known as Bulacan’s “mother of all fiestas,” the Singkaban Festival is a massive, week-long celebration of arts, culture, and history every September. The name itself stands for SiniNG at KAlinangan ng BulacAN. Additionally, it honors the singkaban, which are the beautifully carved bamboo arches that welcome guests during town fiestas.

During this vibrant event, visitors can enjoy the colorful Parada ng Karosa bamboo float parade, energetic Indakan sa Kalye street dancing, and classic kundiman or balagtasan performances. Furthermore, bustling trade fairs offer delicious local food and handcrafted goods. While the full festival schedule has not been announced yet, updates are expected soon.

Floy Quintos’ ATANG

Floy Quintos was a powerhouse in Philippine theater who left behind an extraordinary legacy when he passed away in 2024. Throughout his career, he won nine Palanca Awards for writing sharp, witty plays about Filipino history, politics, and culture. His famous masterpieces include Atang: Dulang May Musika, The Kundiman Party, The Reconciliation Dinner, and his final work, Grace. Beyond playwriting, he also curated indigenous art exhibits and directed the 2019 SEA Games opening ceremony. As part of Singkaban Festival 2026, the Bulacan provincial government and PHACTO are proud to present his acclaimed play, ATANG. Staged by DFSB, this powerful piece beautifully highlights the true heroism and passion of an artist.

Production Details & Schedule

The production runs on September 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, and 13, 2026, with showtimes at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Although many slots are already fully booked, limited seats remain for the 6:00 PM weekend performances at the Nicanor Abelardo Auditorium in the Hiyas ng Bulacan Cultural Center.

While admission is completely free, you must register in advance to reserve your spot. You can easily secure tickets by scanning the QR code on the official poster or filling out the ATANG Ticket Reservation Form.
