When bbno$ walked onstage dressed as the VTuber Ironmouse—pink wig, sailor dress, the whole look—the crowd didn’t just cheer. They howled.
That surreal, joyful moment captured what made the debut &FRIENDS Festival—one of the most talked-about events in the EDM festival Asia 2025 circuit—so different. Held May 30–31 at Okada Cove in Manila, it wasn’t just a concert. It was a collision of gaming, digital fandom, cosplay, and Southeast Asian pride—and it might just be a preview of where youth culture is headed.

A Festival That Felt Like the Future of EDM Festival Asia 2025
Festivalgoers didn’t just show up to dance. They played games, customized sneakers, learned to DJ, got rave makeup done, and created content in real time. It felt like the internet had been built in 3D—with a bass drop.
“We didn’t want something one-dimensional,” said Justin Banusing, one of the festival’s co-founders and a performing artist himself.
“We wanted this to feel like how we experience culture now—layered, chaotic, fun.”
The lineup reflected that philosophy. Grammy-winning headliner Zedd returned to Manila with a thunderous set. ILLENIUM, performing in the Philippines for the first time, pulled deep into fan nostalgia with a trilogy throwback mix. And bbno$, fresh off a global tour, performed his collaboration with Ironmouse live—while cosplaying her onstage.
Fans sang along to SexBomb remixes, moshed to dubstep, and lit up the night with LED lightsticks and phone flashlights, blurring the line between concert and community.
EDM Festival Asia 2025 Redefined: East Meets West—For Real This Time
Unlike many international events that rely heavily on Western headliners, &FRIENDS stood out by showcasing artists from across Southeast and East Asia. It brought together acts from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, Japan, and China—redefining what an EDM festival in Asia could look and sound like in 2025.
Local artists didn’t just appear—they dominated. Siangyoo and Fairlane brought out a full hometown crowd for their main stage debut. Filipino DJ collective NGHTSHIFT—Banusing, Daryl Chong, and Jigo Vilar—returned from their U.S. tour to raucous support. DJs dropped Filipino tracks into their sets—from BINI’s “Salamin, Salamin” to The SexBomb Girls’ “Spaghetti Song”—reminding everyone where they were.
How &FRIENDS Became a Cultural Milestone in EDM Festival Asia 2025
“Music, pop culture, and the internet are inseparable now,” said David Viray, Clout Kitchen’s co-founder and Chief Growth Officer.
“We wanted to take that digital energy and make it real. That’s what &FRIENDS is about.”
The event was a win for its brand partners too. Foot traffic surged at Okada’s hotel, casino, and boardwalk. But the real success wasn’t just logistical—it was cultural. The weekend brought together creators, fans, and musicians into a shared space that felt equal parts concert, convention, and community party.
And for once, Southeast Asia wasn’t just participating in global music trends—it was helping lead them.

What’s Next for EDM Festival Asia 2025
Plans are already underway for a Halloween edition of &FRIENDS Festival, and if this debut was any indication, it won’t be just another show. It’ll be a moment.
As EDM culture in Asia continues to evolve, &FRIENDS is shaping a new standard—one where fandom, identity, and joy don’t just coexist. They dance.
