Educator, journalist, and author Danton Remoto brings his wealth of experience to Simpol.ph as one of Simpol.ph’s columnists.
Remoto, whose career spans four decades, has made his mark on the Philippine press, writing columns, feature articles, and editorials for various publications. He currently pens a front-page column for a newspaper company, where he previously served as news editor.
He has authored books such as Riverrun, A Novel and The Heart of Summer: Stories and Tales, both published under Penguin Random House Southeast Asia. His literary contributions also include English translations of classic Tagalog novels by Lope K. Santos and National Artist Amado V. Hernandez.
Remoto has worn many hats throughout his career.
He has served as head of communications at the United Nations Development Programme, head of school at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, and dean of journalism as well as president of a media college. Currently, he shares his expertise as a professor at the Ateneo de Manila University’s Department of Communication, while also working as a translator, editor, and communications consultant for corporate and government clients.
