PPO Concert VII: Finale with Jeffrey Ching, Andrea Obiso

The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) will close its 40th concert season, Forte, with a performance featuring soloist Andrea Obiso and a new concerto by Jeffrey Ching on April 11, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati City.

PPO Concert VII: Finale will present orchestral works conducted by Maestro Grzegorz Nowak.

The concert opens with Jeffrey Ching’s Concerto for Orchestra, a newly commissioned work by the PPO. Ching, the PPO’s first composer-in-residence, is known for his compositions blending Eastern and Western traditions.

Italian violinist Andrea Obiso will perform Camille Saint-Saëns’ Violin Concerto No. 3. Obiso, concertmaster of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, is known for his virtuosic technique and has toured extensively across Europe, Asia, and the United States.

The concert concludes with Georges Bizet’s Carmen Suite, a vibrant orchestral suite from his opera Carmen that captures the fiery passion of its main character.

PPO Concert VII: Finale marks the conclusion of the PPO’s 40th season and sets the stage for an upcoming tour in the United Kingdom in May.
