Can the booming gaming industry explode in profits without leaving its players behind?
On the center stage at the SiGMA Asia Summit 2026 is PAGCOR.
While the digital betting world is moving at lightning speed, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) stepped up to remind everyone that massive growth means absolutely nothing if we drop the ball on player safety.

Speaking to a big crowd of regional regulators and operators, PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco made it clear that while the gaming world is moving fast, keeping players safe is the real priority.
Basically, rapid innovation doesn’t mean we get to drop the ball on social accountability.
Keeping it Real on Accountability
At the summit, Tengco urged industry leaders to step up their game when it comes to player protection. He emphasized that market growth means nothing if we aren’t looking out for the public.

Ultimately, chasing big profits shouldn’t come at the cost of community well-being.
24/7 Support for the Community
To prove they mean business, PAGCOR highlighted its brand-new National Problem Gambling Helpline. This round-the-clock service is a total game-changer, offering immediate, confidential, and professional support to individuals and families dealing with addiction.
Furthermore, they teamed up with the Seagulls Flock Organization—a solid non-profit dedicated to mental health and behavioral wellness—to make sure the support is top-notch.
Highs, Lows, and Big Picture Goals
Meanwhile, the financial side of the industry is riding a bit of a rollercoaster. Even though digital and electronic gaming pushed total revenues to a massive ₱400 billion in 2025, the market took a bit of a hit in early 2026. Consequently, total revenues dropped over 15% due to tighter wallets and broader economic pressures.

Because of these shifts, Tengco reiterated that long-term success isn’t just about flexing big revenue numbers.
In short, the summit proved that the true measure of the gaming industry is its sustainability, not just its hype. By balancing digital growth with traditional casino stability and keeping that helpline open 24/7, PAGCOR is aiming to keep public trust high.
Moving forward, the ultimate goal is to ensure the industry actually does good by the communities it serves.
