For Filipino families, the kitchen is more than a space for preparing meals—it is a classroom for creativity, nutrition, and practical life skills. The MAGGI Sarap Sustansya Cook-Off 2026 offers exactly that, showing how young Filipinos can transform affordable ingredients into flavorful, balanced meals. For students, teachers, and even parents, the competition demonstrates how proper planning, guidance, and inspiration can turn simple home-cooked dishes into nutritious, enjoyable experiences that benefit the whole family.

Celebrating Culinary Skills and Nutritional Knowledge
Manila, Philippines—In a showcase of skill, teamwork, and nutrition, MAGGI Philippines, in partnership with the Nestlé Wellness Campus and the Department of Education, held the MAGGI Sarap Sustansya Cook-Off 2026 at the Center for Culinary Arts (CCA) Manila in Taguig City. Bringing together students in grades 7 through 10 from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the cook-off challenged participants to create dishes that were both healthy and delicious, using only a 500-peso budget and fresh produce from their school’s Gulayan sa Paaralan.

Selected students honed their skills through the MAGGI Sarap Sustansya Kusinaskwela videos, learning meal planning, smart palengke shopping, and efficient cooking techniques. During the grand finals, students prepared a complete menu for a family of four—including protein, vegetables, carbohydrates, dessert, and beverage—within a two-hour window and a 1,000-peso budget, adhering to the Go, Grow, Glow food groups and Pinggang Pinoy guidelines from the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI).
Guidance from culinary mentors such as Juan Miguel Fernandez (Juan Big Bite), Juri Imao (JUJUMAO), and Cath Chen, alongside judging by esteemed chefs Tatung, Miggy Moreno, and Jackie Ang Po, provided students with professional insights on food safety, presentation, and flavor balance.
Champions of Creativity and Nutrition
The national grand champion, Concepcion National High School from SDO Southern Leyte, wowed judges with their creative and nutritious dishes: Blueternate Coconut Cooler, Tomato Tsoko Crunch Tartlet, Bankaube Nutri Rice, Cheesy Triple Green Lumpia Rolls, and Crispy Tilapia Fillet. “We learned not just how to make meals tasty, but also how to keep them healthy and well-balanced. MAGGI guided us in experimenting and understanding how flavor and nutrition can coexist,” shared teacher Grechie Cortel, coach of the winning team.

Runners-up included Malinao School for Philippine Craftsmen (SDO Aklan) and Donsol National Comprehensive High School (SDO Sorsogon), while the People’s Choice category recognized Bariw National High School (SDO Albay), Juan F. Triviño Memorial High School (SDO Camarines Sur), and Camarin High School (SDO Caloocan) for their popular entries.
Why Experiencing This Matters
