In Filipino homes, alaga goes beyond simple care. It is the promise that family comes first, that health must be guarded, and that the future must be prepared for. This spirit guided the Alagang Cocolife Wellness Forum on September 19 at the Balete and Kawayan Ballroom of Alphaland Makati. At this event, clients, employees, and members of the press came together to explore how to live well every day.
Everyday Lessons in Health
Three coaches brought wellness into focus with practical advice. Christian Rey “Chance” Vega, nurse and personal trainer, showed how daily movement, good food, and social connection can prevent illnesses like hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. Ironman-certified coach Dax Timbol challenged participants to adopt a “Day One Mindset.” He stressed that building strength steadily is an investment in long life. Nutritionist-dietitian Shay Castillo urged families to treat food as fuel. She reminded everyone that each meal shapes energy, mood, and resilience.
Their combined message was clear: wellness is not complicated. It starts with small choices—moving more, eating mindfully, and taking action today.
Health in Community
The forum also celebrated the growth of the Alagang Cocolife Run Club. This club shows how wellness becomes stronger in community. From regular jogs to themed events like the Mamaw Run on October 25, the club proves that staying active can be fun, playful, and shared.
Preparing for Life’s Costs
The discussions also faced a hard truth: a single hospital stay can drain years of savings. This forces families to choose between bills and basic needs. To ease this burden, two programs were introduced. Kalinga, at about twenty pesos a day—the cost of a jeepney ride—offers life coverage, critical illness protection, and hospitalization benefits. Agapay, at sixty-seven pesos daily, adds managed investments. This gives families both health protection and long-term savings.
Both programs reflect the same promise: to help families care for today while protecting their tomorrow.
Care That Extends Forward
The forum closed with reflections from Chief Agency Officer Edward “Robin” Gonzales. He emphasized that true wellness is not only about health but also about securing the future. Through initiatives like the forum, the Run Club, and accessible protection plans, Cocolife continues to live out the meaning of alaga: not a slogan, but a daily act of moving, eating well, preparing, and protecting the people we love.
