For Maria Katrina Llegado, the path to Miss Supranational 2026 blossomed through resilience, reinvention, and an unwavering devotion to self-growth. Her crowning moment not only brought the Philippines its second Miss Supranational title but also proved that when determination is motivated by purpose, success also takes on new meaning.
Long before she graced the world stage, Llegado seamlessly blended beauty, business, and public service. Graduating cum laude from De La Salle University-Manila in Financial Management (2018), she carved out a dynamic career in finance, research, and communications. Her career took her from analytical roles at Citibank Philippines and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to molding public narratives as a marketing and PR consultant for the Taguig City Government.
Inspired by her grandfather’s legacy in the military, she joined the Philippine Air Force Reserve Force in 2023, graduating as a reservist. This step reflected her conviction that genuine leadership is rooted in service.
A Journey Defined by Growth
Llegado’s pageant journey took flight in 2018 with a Top 5 finish at Mutya ng Taguig. From there, she developed into one of the nation’s most celebrated beauty queens, developing her stage presence and advocacy under the guidance of the Aces and Queens camp.
Her first national breakthrough took place at Miss World Philippines 2019, representing Taguig. Winning Miss Photogenic and Best in Evening Gown, she was crowned Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2019. She represented the Philippines at Reina Hispanoamericana in Bolivia—an international pageant celebrating Hispanic heritage, language, culture, and diversity—finishing as fifth runner-up.
Never one to rest on her laurels, she entered Miss Universe Philippines in 2022. Her polished performances, striking evening gowns, and a national costume made from dried water lilies in partnership with the Taguig Waterlily Livelihood Center captivated judges. As second runner-up, she made an indelible mark with her message of self-love and transformation.
In 2025, she made a triumphant return to the Miss Universe Philippines stage as Taguig’s representative. Advancing to the Top 6, she delivered a stirring answer on women’s leadership and political participation. Her national costume, inspired by the wind deity Amihan and the vibrant drag culture, paid tribute to both her heritage and the emerging Filipino identity.
The Crown That Completed the Journey
Following her 2025 campaign, The Miss Philippines organization appointed Llegado as the country’s representative to Miss Supranational 2026. Her preparations became a showcase of Filipino creativity, as designers Ryan Ablaza Uson, Manny Halasan, Pablo Mendez III, Rian Fernandez, and Mich Viray designed a wardrobe that celebrated art and tradition, from a gumamela-inspired national costume to beautiful evening gowns.
Throughout the competition, Llegado’s talent shone after she reached the semifinals of two fast-track events, then advanced through the Top 24 and Top 12 with poise and determination. Her winning answers revealed a forward-thinking leader dedicated to encouraging women to rise above limitations. Looking back on her journey, she encouraged others to break free from expectations and find purpose in valuing their imperfections.
When she was crowned Miss Supranational 2026, Llegado became only the second Filipino to claim the title after Mutya Johanna Datul in 2013. As the first queen to wear the new Fioletowa Crown, she helped the Philippines match India for the most Miss Supranational wins.
Beauty Behind the Stage
Beyond the pageant spotlight, Llegado pours her entrepreneurial drive into Clocheflame, the Philippine cosmetics brand she co-founded with Arianne Amante in 2021. As Chief Financial Officer, she blends her financial expertise with a passion for accessible beauty, creating products that inspire everyday confidence. The brand also partners with Project Pearls, uplifting women in underserved Tondo communities through livelihood initiatives and meaningful support.
