Beyond the cheers for every sporting win or international crown lies the true heart of Filipino pride—a commitment to something greater than the individual. To be Filipino means carrying a shared responsibility for both the nation and the global community.
Ultimately, Filipinos find their identity not merely in cultural practices, but in a conscious choice to live for the welfare of others and the legacy they leave for future generations.
Tropical Flavors for the World
The International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines currently celebrates its 19th edition as the country’s premier export-oriented food trade fair. Under the theme “Tropical Flavors of the World,” the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) organizes the event, which serves as a massive B2B platform. Here, the Philippines showcases its rich agricultural heritage alongside modern food innovation.

CITEM designed the exhibition to bridge the gap between local producers—including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)—and international buyers. Consequently, attendees will encounter a wide array of natural and organic produce, such as fruits, vegetables, and plant-based products.
We move towards not just showcasing Filipino food and flavors worldwide; we must move towards an economy that gives back to the producers, to the farmers,” said Ms. Raine Cabral Laysico, founder of Masterplan Global and IFEX Kitchen Curator.
In addition to regional delicacies and traditional ingredients, the fair features innovative products, culinary fusions, and new-age healthy snacking options. Producers craft these offerings to cater to a diverse palate while maintaining authentic roots.
A Sustainable Food Source and Economy
This year, the event places a stronger emphasis on sustainable practices and eco-friendly packaging to meet the increasing global demand for mindful consumption. By adopting these standards, Filipino exporters remain competitive in a global market that now demands “clean” and ethical supply chains.

Furthermore, the event co-locates with the Sustainability Solutions Exchange (SSX). This dedicated platform helps MSMEs transition to a circular economy. Because local brands must meet strict environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards to enter high-value markets, the SSX connects food producers with providers of green technology.
Through this initiative, the Philippines continues to share its “Tropical Flavors” with the world without compromising the resources of future generations.
A Homegrown Future for “EveryJuan”
The push to cultivate local resources is more than just a matter of national pride; it is a strategic necessity for long-term economic and cultural survival. In an era where a single event can disrupt global supply chains, the ability to produce from within provides a level of security and authenticity that no one can import.
As Ms. Laysico emphasized, the country is now ready to reclaim a story rooted in heritage. These traditions not only create nostalgia but also trigger vital conversations about sustainable food and resource security.
We are creating a table where everyone is welcome,” Laysico remarked. “This is our table, we invite everyone in, and we are finally owning our story.”
