There’s something soulful about Thai cuisine. It is bold yet balanced, rich yet refined.

At Nara Thai, that essence is not just preserved—it’s elevated. And now, with its newest branch in Makati, the brand invites guests to experience the same depth and grace that made it a beloved name in Bangkok and beyond.

Founded in Bangkok by Narawadee “Yuki” Srikarnchana and Sirisopa “Jean” Chulasewok, Nara Thai was born from a simple, heartfelt mission. It is to share the warmth of traditional Thai cooking in a refined, modern setting. In the Philippines, that vision is carried forward by Sheila Marie Romero and Charissa Amisola, CEO and COO of Rokugroup Inc., who have brought Nara Thai to the Philippines.

“We’re thrilled to bring Nara Thai to Makati,” Romero says. “This city has always been a meeting point of business, culture, and cuisine. It’s the perfect place to grow the experience and share our story.”

Crispy, golden, and gloriously simple. The Pla Nil Tord Nam Pla is all about texture and balance — tender tilapia inside, with a crackling crisp skin, perfectly paired with a rich, umami-laced fish sauce. No fuss, just honest Thai flavors done right.

What distinguishes Nara Thai is its deep reverence for culinary tradition. Key ingredients—chili pastes, tamarind, kaffir lime, and curry sauces—are imported directly from Thailand. “Nara Thai in Bangkok produces its own curry pastes, which gives our food a flavor that’s distinct and deeply rooted,” explains Amisola. The brand’s Thai SELECT certification, awarded by the Royal Thai Government, affirms this commitment to authenticity.

Sweet, tangy, crispy — and totally kid-approved! The Tamarind-Glazed Chicken Wings are everything you love about fried chicken, with a bold Thai twist. Glazed to perfection and paired with fresh, zesty papaya salad, it’s a dish that wins hearts of all ages.Let’s be real — who doesn’t love fried chicken?

Still, honoring tradition doesn’t mean resisting evolution. “We don’t change the recipes,” Amisola adds, “but we do highlight dishes that resonate with Filipino guests.” This thoughtful curation keeps the menu true to its roots while ensuring it feels welcoming and relevant to the local audience.

The new Makati branch carries the brand’s signature design language—jewel-toned accents, soft lighting, and refined Thai motifs—but with touches that feel uniquely elevated. Custom plates in Thailand’s national color reflect both pride and provenance. Overhead, oversized lantern-shaped chandeliers cast a golden glow, while wooden elements sourced from Thailand ground the space in natural elegance. Fresh orchids lend fragrance and softness throughout the room.

A bowl of bold, bracing flavor. The Tom Yum Goong is the perfect harmony of spicy, sour, and aromatic — with plump shrimp swimming in a hot, tangy broth that awakens every sense.

Even the plating is intentional. Banana leaves, carved vegetables, and delicately chosen garnishes aren’t just for show—they mirror the thoughtfulness of Thai hospitality. At Nara Thai, beauty serves meaning.

That same respect carries into the kitchen. The Thai head chef, trained in one of Bangkok’s heritage kitchens, insists each dish stay true to its roots. Every dish that leaves her kitchen speaks in its native tongue. During our visit, she stopped by our table with the warm presence of a matriarch—more nurturing than commanding. A quiet reminder that great cooking comes from care as much as technique.

Rich. Creamy. Unforgettable. The Kang Kiew Wan Nuea, tender beef simmered in fragrant green curry is one of the finest expressions of Thai comfort food. Velvety coconut milk, vibrant herbs, and just the right touch of heat make this a must-try dish for curry lovers.

The result is a space that feels more Sukhothai chic than Yaowarat hustle—less street-side buzz, more five-star calm. Whether for a quick lunch, a romantic dinner, or a weekend gathering, Nara Thai Makati offers an experience that’s transportive, serene, and elegantly grounded.

Nara Thai isn’t just another restaurant opening. It’s a continuation of a story told by women who believe in the power of food. It bridges cultures and generations. From Bangkok to Manila, Nara Thai remains rooted in tradition, always evolving with care.

At Nara Thai, you don’t just eat. You explore. You connect. And now, in Makati, you can savor the journey all over again.

A refined yet approachable Thai dining experience where tradition meets modern elegance.
