Lei’s Fresh Lumpia, a family-run food stall specializing in Filipino-Chinese cuisine, continues to serve its signature fresh lumpia at its new location in Project 2, following its relocation from Kalayaan Avenue more than a decade ago.
Originally operating at the old Eunilaine Supermarket, the business moved in 2013 after the supermarket was acquired and redeveloped by Puregold. Lei’s Fresh Lumpia is now located at 17-A Langka St., within the family compound of Leila Lantin-Ignacio, the owner.
The business has built a loyal following by serving a traditional Chinese-style fresh lumpia, which features sautéed vegetables such as carrots, jicama (singkamas), tofu and heart of palm (ubod). Customers can choose between two types of wrappers — a traditional paper-thin version or one enriched with egg — before the roll is topped with a sweet garlic-peanut sauce, crushed peanuts and hot sauce.
Lantin-Ignacio is the daughter of the founder of Globe Lumpia House in Quiapo, which opened in 1956. She continues her family’s culinary legacy by maintaining the original recipe and preparation style. The food is made by hand daily, and the business operates without mass production or mechanization.
The stall’s menu remains limited, focusing primarily on its fresh lumpia, with chicken lumpia as a secondary offering. The business does not plan to expand or franchise.
Lei’s Fresh Lumpia relies primarily on word-of-mouth promotion and long-standing customer relationships. The stall does not use modern marketing strategies or delivery apps and instead focuses on consistency and product quality.
