Getting tired of staying home 24/7? You’re not alone! Most of us have been sheltering at home since March, limiting our outdoor activities to running important errands like buying food or paying bills. So we’re sure by now a lot of us are suffering from cabin fever. We have never experienced collective travel pangs, but after eight months in lockdown, we’re starting to feel its toll on our mental state.

After months and months of halting operations, hotels within the metro have found a way to work with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and Department of Health (DOH) to reopen and accept staycationers for a little taste of normalcy. Last month, the DOT announced that eight luxury hotels in Metro Manila have been given the go signal to reopen, with updated guidelines to ensure safety of guests and their staff. Just remember that the DOT requires all staycationers to present a negative COVID test result before being checked in at the following establishments.

Here’s more information about the reopened hotels and some promotions that you and your family will definitely enjoy.

THE PENINSULA MANILA

In the heart of Makati stands the iconic Peninsula Manila. For 44 years, it has been home to countless memories (for families and even history) and after being closed for half of 2020, they reopened their doors for guests on November 23rd.

With their “Family Fun in the City” package, the entire family will have a great time exploring the city on a Scavenger Hunt and kids will love the extra warm welcome of a plush Peninsula Bear and Candy Bar in the room. Families also have the choice to enjoy a five-course family style lunch or dinner at The Lobby where they can admire the timeless beauty of Peninsula Manila. The package also includes set breakfast for two adults and 2 kids after a restful night.

OKADA MANILA

Okada Manila, home to the largest dancing fountain in the Philippines, has opened its doors to staycationers after being granted DOT’s Certificate of Authority to Operate for Staycations (CAOS). Following DOT’s guidelines, all guests must present a negative rapid antigen test result on the same day as their arrival in order to be checked-in at Okada. The Five-Star hotel has it’s own antigen testing facility within the hotel grounds and they say the test price is heavily discounted for guests’ convenience.

A few months ago, the hotel also launched their “True Clean. True Safe. True Heart.” (3T) campaign, emphasizing their dedication to strict health and safety protocols in the property to protect both their staff and their guests using “strengthened safety measures, enhanced emergency protocols, advanced disinfection and sanitation technology”, according to a PeopleAsia report.

Aside from implementing additional health and safety precautions within the property, they’re also giving guests 20% off and a flexible cancellation policy for bookings made by December 6, 2020.

SHANGRI-LA AT THE FORT MANILA

Shangri-La at the Fort Manila also started to welcome guests for staycations and offers family packages to maximize your time away from home. Aside from the inclusive breakfast through in-room dining, the kids also have the chance to meet the hotel mascot Boni the Bull. The entire family will have access to their state-of-the-art fitness facility Kerry Sports where parents can work out or wind down at the spa, while kids have a great time at Adventure Zone, one of the biggest indoor playgrounds in the metro. The best part? Families can check in as early as 8 a.m. and check out as late as 6 p.m. And did we mention that the family package includes two guest rooms for optimal relaxation?

An Onsite Rapid Antigen Facility is also available for the exclusive use of guests booking their stay at Shangri-La for only P1,800 per person. Reservations are required.
